Zero atmosphere at the tourney

Where are the students and bands? It sounds dead at the X. Times sure have changed.

The morning session was the best for quarterfinal atmosphere that I've seen.

The EP-LN game is morgue-like, though. The highlight was 216. I have higher hopes for game 2...

How was 216. Didn't really here them in the morning

Way more active than either student section, and teaming up with the nearby Moorhead students. They brought plenty of beach balls, ran throgh a number of (often somewhat off-color) chants, and sufficiently irked the security staff. Made an otherwise sull game a bit more exciting. Didn't hear them this morning either, but no real need for them since the students were so involved.

This is all that matters, of course.

In terms of student sections:
1. WBL-biggest I've seen since I've been watching regularly. Not quite as many chants as I might like, but they can be hard to coordinate across such a huge section.
2. DE-not as big as some of the others, but they are the smallest school in the field, and they chanted more than anyone. Held their own vs. WBL.
3. Edina-nothing fancy, but solid in every aspect. They know what they're doing here.
4. Blaine-better than past years; got some help from WBL.
5. Eagan-big, but you can tell they're new to this. Disorganized.
6. Moorhead-hard to separate from 216. Small but pretty active.
7. EP-wil give them something of a pass due to their opponent, but otherwise disappointing.
8. LN-there was a student section?

Not a bad idea...

I've done this for the state quarterfinals the past couple years. Students who add to the atmosphere deserve to be acknowledged, at least in some small way.

Best student sections I see every year are WBL and Burnsville. Unfortunately they are not at the X enough for everyone to see..

As long as I've been involved with WBL they have always had a huge following, and I would make the argument the biggest in the state. Alot has to do with being one of the bigger schools, but that doesn't give and excuse to the other big schools for small turnouts to support their schools. Disappointing.

Agreed.

But I do see where things were not as "loud" at the X.

This is because there are no privates schools to hate on (just cake to hate)

15,000 people for the night session was a sure disappointment. The beer I drank between sessions along with the boring first game about put me to sleep.

EP student section was great today. Best of the tournament so far. They teamed up with 216 after the fourth goal and it was pretty fun. Even better that Eagan was right in between them.

Sorry, but television does not lie...There was lots of empty seats last night on television

Its just like the wild games sellout streak. The tickets may be sold, but I can vouche that the place is not packed.

Sorry that you might have seen 10 empty seats last night. People do get up every once in a while

There looked to be lots of open seats. Anyway, did they let the upper deck students move into the lower deck for the second AA game? The MSHSL didn't let them do that in the past.

A lot of people there for the 1st game, especially at the end with Eagan & EP there.

A lot of people left after EP went up 4-0. Very few moved from top to bottom, but you could have sat anywhere you wanted at that point.

Sorry but being there in person doesn't lie

During the final two periods of the first game there wasn't an empty seat and for the first period and a half or so of the second game it was pretty full. After that it started getting late and the game got out of hand.
