Hey Stickler, obviously, you have no concept of reality with this issue. Nor do I think you have kids playing at this time or possibly ever. When a school like Breck loses 14 seniors like last years team did, then turns around and makes it back to the tourney there is a problem here. Granted Breck did get beat in the QF by a strong TRF team but its just ridiculous. Obviously, you feel that this is ok because you have no kids being denied opportunities year after year because of these AAA private school teams that recruit top talent to play against these small town schools. This is precisely, IMO, what is wrong with this country and is the reason we are in the shape we are in. The sense of entitlement at all costs regardless of who it effects and the realities of the situation. Oh yea, STA 12 New Ulm 2, I guess New Ulm just could not compete with a metro all star team. What a joke.
What's the problem with any school making it to the state tournament? So because they were good enough to lose a large amount of their team and still win their section we have a problem? What reality are you living in? Only in Minnesota can you find this many people who will decry the successes of others out of "fairness". Oh and on the recruiting bit, if you spent half the time maybe doing research about why kids go to the schools they do as you do crying on here maybe you'd have a shot at convincing the MSHSL to take some action. So how about you be productive for a change instead of throwing a temper tantrum? See that's the difference between winners and losers, winners put their nose to the grindstone and work hard to get better, losers like you just cry and complain when they get beat and make excuses.
And please, don't make me laugh with your "what's wrong with this country" line. We're in the shape we are in educationally (getting passed by every country imaginable in math/science and reading) because of people like YOU. Who want to pass kids even though they can't read because they "don't want them to feel bad". Or say that "the playing field isn't even enough" just because arguably the worst team to play in the A tournament in maybe a DECADE got smashed by one of the best teams this year. How about you (and teach your kids for that matter) sack up and play instead of making excuses about why these "all-star teams" continue to win.
I'm sure STA doesn't want to play New Ulm on that note as well, as they didn't schedule anyone of that caliber during the year in non-conference. How about instead of b****ing at STA how about you complain to the MSHSL who allowed that matchup to happen? STA didn't choose to play New Ulm, the random draw process from a laughably weak MSHSL drawn section did. So point your finger at the league for that one.
The old saying of "don't hate the player hate the game" has never so perfectly fit when it comes to privates in this state. The private schools play by the rules in this state laid down by the MSHSL and win. So again, instead of directing your rancor at those schools (who have very little to no power to change the things you're complaining about institutionally) go after the MSHSL and get them to change the process.
