When I saw PageStat had East at #2 after the section playoffs, I winced, thinking "ugh, that can't be right".Goldfishdude wrote:Thanks to my Bears from WBL who gave East the confidence that they could beat any team!!!
Woohoo for my favorite team from the North.. Congrats boys...
Hey, Karl.....
And to think people would ridicule you for having East rated so high at the beginning of the year.
Maybe it's still wrong. Hopefully

Hi from sect. 105--though it might not have been too hard to see me going crazy after that goal bt Toscano. 3 OT wins in a row for the Heart-Attack Hounds...it's been a special year. When East got the classic forecheck rolling in the late 1st, I had a sense that it would be a good game for the Hounds. And after 2 OT games, what's a third? They were simply relentless.
Another great showing from the East fan base, and thanks to 216 for the support!
Time to see who they get next...

You'll notice I didn't need to apply the Reverse Jinx tonight.Goldfishdude wrote:Lee... can't even phathom the thought you didn't think your squad was #1...east hockey wrote:When I saw PageStat had East at #2 after the section playoffs, I winced, thinking "ugh, that can't be right".Goldfishdude wrote:Thanks to my Bears from WBL who gave East the confidence that they could beat any team!!!

Giles was flirting with losing all year long into sections and now state (lots of one goal very very close wins); he made goofy coaching and personnel decisions throughout the season; his stars carried the team and he got them ready but it is kind of like coaching them to the championship last year went to his head. He asked for this, coming up short.
Let me get this straight. East and Edina play a overtime game in the state semi-finals, and the game could have gone either way, and Edina loses 2-1 and you want to blame Giles? You are a great hockey mind!hockeyhair2011 wrote:Giles was flirting with losing all year long into sections and now state (lots of one goal very very close wins); he made goofy coaching and personnel decisions throughout the season; his stars carried the team and he got them ready but it is kind of like coaching them to the championship last year went to his head. Is it not possible to consider that with better players on the ice it may not have even been that close? Two solid junior defense got dumped in the middle of the season. At one point Sit was playing defense tonight. Sure they had a nice season. I said he had them ready to play. Sure it was a close game. Sure it could've gone either way. But it didn't go Edina's way. And simply put, Giles asked for it.mulefarm wrote:Let me get this straight. Please tell us why you got dumped?hockeyhair2011 wrote:Is it not possible to consider that with better players on the ice it may not have even been that close? Please do not impugn any players; I am just an observer Holmes.mulefarm wrote:Please tell us why you got dumped?hockeyhair2011 wrote:Is it not possible to consider that with better players on the ice it may not have even been that close? East (the cake-eaters of the north) deserved the W. Edina (the cake-eaters of the south) were simply outworked. It was a great atmosphere, I'd say 15,000 people were pulling for the Hounds, the place erupted when Toscano scored. Did anyone else think the Hounds deserved a power play? They were out working Edina and I felt they should have had at least three power plays if not more. The refs basically let the two teams play, there was only one penalty (which was on the Hounds, even though I felt Edina was more chippy). It panned out for the Hounds but if Edina would have won I know people would have voiced their opinion. Did Nanne get hurt? Or was he just shut down by the Hounds? I didn't see him out there for a good chunk of the game. Good luck to the Hounds, bring it back north.

I'm not one to gripe about refs, but the way they swallowed the whistle tonight did play into Edina's hands more than it did East's. Edina has had a penalty problem all season, and the Hounds' ability to beat them without a single PP says a lot about this team
(And oh, was I ever screaming at the refs by the 3rd.)

I love looking at this board, and reading all the moronic comments.
Please explain how this can be put on Giles? I have not heard anything but good things baout this guy. I think he is the one coach out there that reminds me of Herb Brooks. It appears to me year after year he puts a team together based on kids having their own roles. I have never met Giles, but I know a lot people that have met him. The one word that comes to mind from people is he is nothing but class.
I am by no means an Edina fan, in fact I cheer against Edina every year. Hockeyhair, maybe you were able to get some playing time on their junior gold program. I am baffled as a hockey fan that you can put that game on the shoulders of Giles.
As far as the game...Great game!! Not sure D. East really outworked them as hard as people say. I thought East looked pretty average the first period, but came out and took it to them in the second. Connor Girard made a few good saves, but it appeared to me that the hornets were really buzzing. This might be because Jojo looks like he plays a unconventional style of goaltending. It works!! It just appeared to me that the game was very equal the whole game...I love seeing a team from the north play against a team from the cities.

Right before East scored their first goal, Edina took a man down as East was running the play that scored later... Clear cut take down from the back, no call... Thank god East scored about 2 minutes later to tie game...karl(east) wrote:I'm not one to gripe about refs, but the way they swallowed the whistle tonight did play into Edina's hands more than it did East's. Lots of uncalled interference calls on Edina, as East would throw puck into the zone, Edina D would take a shot at the East kid every time, no calls...
