As an EP fan, we're not in the top ten. We lost 122 goals, the leading scorer among underclassmen had 2. The JV team was just 14-7-4. It will be a down year or two but then the current Bantam A's are the top ranked team in the state right now so they should move us back up. All of these teams that played a solid amount of underclassmen this year are ahead of us.
EP two out of three.

I would say AV should be up there, but that's only if everyone stays. They will be a good team regardless though

Tonka needs to be on there and Cloquet should be considered for it too.

1. Hill-Murray
2. Duluth East
3. Benilde St. Margarets
4. Edina
5. Minnetonka
6. Eagan
7. Wayzata
8. Eden Prairie
9. Blaine
10. Grand Rapids

Reason for Hill being 1? Pressure will be off for next year. Similar to Minnetonka in 2010, and Edina in 2007-2009, they were ranked 1 for the majority of the year and disappointed. I predict this to be a big motivator for next season. They have the best coach in the state, and there are bound to be some new "recruits" coming in for next year. Guentzel is a big question mark for next year according to the article on the Hub, but if he returns he would be a huge factor in Hill being 1. Add Voltin, Lavalle, Wood, Heinrich and Dugas and you have a recipe for a number 1 team.

Voltin could very well be the next great player to come out of Minnesota I think. Hill is going to be very good next year also.

His dad is the assistant coach at UNO. Their house in woodbury is on the market, I'm guessing they are moving down there if the house sells.

I can't believe only one ranking has Maple Grove in it. They will be better next year than this year!

We can all hope his dad is right here, head coaching a team in minneapolis next year. That would be nice

I think the Don and Hill are doing a crackerjack job at MN. Give them contract extensions!

(BTW, I'm a Sioux fan  )

Does anyone else think it's a coincidence Mario Lucia hasn't committed to the Gopher's yet? I think the the Don has one foot out the door already.

On a side not, Guentzel was really solid for Hill this year, and it definitely would hurt them a bit if he did not return.

Oh, and I would love to see Guentzel as a potential coach for the Gopher's in the future!

1. Duluth East
One of the best 1st lines in the state. Toscano, Lundgren, Valesano will be ready to play a more prominant role next year. Big losses in Schendel, Johnson, Bergerson, and Jenetta. Biggest question will be is Parker ready to replace Jenetta.

2. Maple Grove
Will return 5 of their top 6 Forwards giving them a very good 1st line, and one of the best 2nd lines in the state. Some very good Juniors next year that should be able to make an impact (Thompsen, Franta, Adams, Augustine). Very similar to Duluth East, Koop will have to replace Coyne.

3. Minnetonka
Lose two of their top six Forwards in Schutt and Ryan, return all of their top Defensemen. Behounek replaces Glockner.

4. Benilde St Margarets
Lose their best Forward and Defensemen in Steinhauser and Daly. Scary 1st line of Horn, Besse, and Labosky. Some question marks of depth at Defensemen after Horton. Return both goalies.

5. Eagan
Great end of the season run, were very good but beatable during the regular season usually being ranked right around the #10 range. After Zajac, Merchant, and Kuchera, they lose their next three best Forwards. Also lose both goalies. Don't know much about their youth system or what they may have to replace this years Seniors.

6. Hill Murray
Some very good top end talent next year. In my opinion they are not a top 3 team next year because it is very difficult to replace 5 of your top 9 Forwards (Bahe, Bruski, Holler, French, Becker), and 2 of your best Defensemen (Cotroneo, Schulze). Dugas very talented, but tough to replace Shaughnessy, maybe he can do it time will tell.

7. Apple Valley
Were very good but beatable during the regular season usually being ranked right around the #10 range. Two great Forwards, and two great defensemen. Lose their next two top Forwards, and their goalie.

8. Wayzata
Even assuming Mario Lucia returns next year, they lose a lot of their top guys. Of their top 6 Forwards will only return Lucia and Majka. I like Halverson and Death a lot on Defense, but losing Richards and Jones who were extremely valuable will hurt. Dingman took over the job near the end of the season and he returns.

9. Blaine
Lose Johnny Brodzinski who was most of their offense this year. Return some good young talent, and have some good Bantams coming up, they will be more talented then they were this year but still a ways behind some of the top teams. Return their goalie Malvin who is a game changer.

10. Burnsville
Some very good players returning, plus a lot of good depth in their program. Unsure of what they have to replace Engum.

Honorable Mention:
Grand Rapids- Lose 3 of their top 5 leading scorers. Underwood and Mondry very good, but that potentially puts Peterson on 1st line with them, and Korbeitz as their best 2nd line player. Also lose both goalies.

Edina- Losing Fogarty, Sit, Sampson, Everson, Cote, and Ostlie will be tough to replace. Walker and Nanne will lead them, and hopefully Reno can return to full strength from his injury. Can Beaupre replace Girard.

Moorhead- Return their 5 leading scorers, Brenk and Christian very dangerous, and Bitzer is a difference maker.

I think that they will have potential to surprise some teams, but will probably be very inconsistent. I'd be surprised to see a section final appearance.

You cannot predict a team just by looking at how many seniors they are going to lose. Yes, it can give you a slight idea but it shouldn't be the only thing you should go off of. After losing all of Minnetonka's D1 players after the 2010 state championship and Jimmy Krueger, Tonka wasn't expected to be even remotely good this year. With no absolute super star players, they proved them wrong and were Top 10 all year.

As for Top 10...I'm not sure. I think Duluth East, BSM and Tonka will be Top 3 all year.
