Considering the Duluth team is drawing from a population center of about 150,000 and that even with Brainerd and Bemidji the IR team is drawing from about 100,000, it seems like adding more cities to the IR team will make for a more competitive game. Or they could put the Cloquet kids on the IR team and not have Bemidji and Brainerd.
What it does is cheapen the game. Brainerd and Bemidji are not on the Iron Range, period. They can go play in some other tournament. Its now the Duluth vs Outstate Minnesota game.
Brainerd is known as the "City Of Mines."

IRONton is a very close town.

Plenty of iron in them der woods...

Granted- other than CEC, Every team is a neighbor of Duluth and reachable within 5 minutes.... Hardly the same for GR, Hibbing, Brainard Bemidji..

And how could I forget Ifalls.. Whats that ? A 4 hour IRC circle??? Hell you guys might as well take Moorhead , Warroad, and Roseau on your team as well .....

Like I said, Every team on the Duluth team Neighbors Duluth... and none besides CEC are more than 5-10 minutes from the center of DUluth

This must be a joke! since when has Int'l Falls ever been a problem. They have ALWAYS been apart of this tourney. Sounds like your already counting a loss for Duluth area with the Range team adding Bemidji and Brainerd. I guess we'll find out real soon.

Dang. Sounds like an NHL all star score. Nice work Iron Range. Any idea who got goals/assists?

Off the top of my head.
Iron Range scorers:
Decenzo - 2 goals
Heller - 2 goals 3 assists (MVP)
Eddy - 2 goals
Moore - 1 goal

Duluth scorers:
Pionok(sp) - 3 goals

Game was fairly boring. I think Amsoil is way to big for this event. Heritage or Mars might be a better spot for the Duluth game. Not much excitement, even in the skills contest.

I beleive Underwood had at least 2 as well for the IRC.
Shendal (East) had 2 for Duluth as well I beleive.

Game was fairly entertaining. Skills competition lacked excitement. Kids looked bored with it.

I agree with HawkeyPower. The Amsoil arena is way too big of a facility for this event. I wouldnt mind seeing it at the Heritage next year or maybe Grand Rapids.

Why would it? Im saying they shouldn't be on the team period. If they are on it, well then its their award to win.
Go Hounds.
