How can you call a kid "soft" when he kept skating as hard as ever even if it meant getting hit hard over and over again?WB6162 wrote:Rau will make another soft Goopher. He got his butt handed to him by a sophomore all during the CG and of course got the cherry pick goal at the end.
Not impressed. Why do we insist on doing this embarrassing "Mr Hockey" thing?
Somebody who is "soft" would get hit hard and then shy away from contact. That was hardly Rau.

There also should have been two penalties called for interference on the two pylons.WB6162 wrote:Rau will make another soft Goopher. He got his butt handed to him by a sophomore all during the CG and of course got the cherry pick goal at the end.

Not real good when high school pylons can lay big hits on you. I guess they don't hit in the WCHA?FREDFLINTSTONE wrote:There also should have been two penalties called for interference on the two pylons.WB6162 wrote:Rau will make another soft Goopher. He won't draw the attention of all five skaters when he's on the ice for the Gophers. It's a little tough to keep an eye open when a whole team's focus is on you. He will do fine.mulefarm wrote:Not real good when high school pylons can lay big hits on you. Granted he won't draw the attention, but at that level teams won't have to. Do you think he will have more of an impact than Bjugstad or score as many goals? Like Ness was, he is being touted as a player who is going to have a major impact on the program, not sure if that will happen?FREDFLINTSTONE wrote:He won't draw the attention of all five skaters when he's on the ice for the Gophers. Totally agree with you. It is ridiculous how you can call a kid soft that took at least three hits that could have knocked someone out of a game and yet he gets back up, doesn't miss a shift, and ends up scoring the OT game winner in the state championship.Gopher Blog wrote:How can you call a kid "soft" when he kept skating as hard as ever even if it meant getting hit hard over and over again?WB6162 wrote:Rau will make another soft Goopher. Well I do think he will have a bigger impact than Bjugstad in his first year. Bjugstad did not have a very good year. Maybe that was because he should have been a senior in HS this year.mulefarm wrote:Granted he won't draw the attention, but at that level teams won't have to.
