Yes, they are a real hockey power. Pre-seasom favorite? Many youth championships, should give East and GR a run for their money.

Definately not in the next few years, but about 3 years from now I see them making a run for a section title. They have a VERY strong youth program with big numbers. They also have some very talented players on next years roster.

Do these two communities not have enough population to field a team is that why they need to combine.

The High School is call St. Micheal-Albertville......
or in other words, one high school serves both communities

It looks like Albertville only has 6,509 residents as of 2009. St. Michael had 15,527.

Compare that to Forest Lake with 17,595, Lino Lakes with 20,569 and White Bear Lake with 24,361, they would be competitive size wise with these towns. Than there's Maple Grove at 63,196 (not including Osseo's 2,577), and that explains why Maple Grove has three times the bantam teams that many places have. SMA would be crazy not to stay together.

I've heard of Forest Lake High School and White Bear Lake Area High School, but never heard of Lino Lakes High School? :wink:
