Coach

Post by hockey81 »

I played on a team at the hockey fest in Alex with LF, and Tyler, Bro, and I got 1 hour of sleep before each game, and we were the best line out there. Sorry LF your coach's will not get you any where. You are all skating on double edges (Couture)

I am not from Little Falls, but one thing I know you are wrong about is their head coach. He has coached them a long time and took them to the state tourney last year....you don't accomplish that without good coaching.

As far as the Alex tourney, I recall the young Festler wasn't there....I am thinking you were one of the "best" lines for LF that weekend only because of his absence.

As to Section 4 being a weak section, I will state again, it is much stronger this year than it ever has been. And it seems silly to bring up a AA section when you were talking about a single A section....but, whatever.

Oh, and er...how's your football team doing? Oh, that's right....Brainerd lost to Tech last week....

Can LF do it again?

Post by Renegade Ram »

Sure why not? From what I saw last spring out of their Bantam A's they will have 2 - 3 guys that have a chance to make the transition and what most forget about are the schools previous Bomber team. How were they last year? Or for that matter how were the other JV's around the section? Was there a dominant one with a fair or better Varsity? Most people don't realize teams older players usually have to go through the JV and that's like having cards up your sleeve because they usually don't get the exposure that the Varsity or Bantam A teams are receiving. If you get enough solid players from there to mix in will your returning vets and young studs; with an above average goaltender anything can happen...

Did you just desbcribe LF's team from last year as bomber? I wouldn't have described them as above average. They had a few good players that carried the team and nothing at all after that. This was really exposed any time they played a decent team (which isn't very often). Pretty much any player who played JV for them last year probably isn't good enough to make much of an impact this year. Little Fessler is going to have to carry the team.

I must be getting old. The "Bombers" or "B" or "JV". Does that clear it up or does the "Bomb Squad" ring a bell?

So qwerty, tell me when did I say they will? I believe I wrote a couple sentences about the sabres earlier that said something to the effect of them starting slow but playing well when playoffs come. The juniors will have to carry the team...

Anyways, it could actually be a couple of good games between them and LF this year. It is too early to make a pick on these games in my opinion. Both will be totally new teams after losing their senior classes.

Re: LF v. Sartell

Post by puckhead89 »

LF will more noticeably suffer from the loss of their senior leadership from last year than will Sartell. LF had two very strong players and leaders in Festler and Lickteig and they made a difference in the LF program.

I think Sartell will continue on an upswing in their hockey program as they continue their efforts in moving towards team play rather than individual play. And I agree, it should be good matchups between the two clubs.

Re: LF

Post by qwerty16 »

Everyone knows about Festler and Lickteig being the leaders of the 04-05 LF hockey team. But as people graduate, those who have played varsity before tend to get better and better am I not right?...Now, Little Falls had some other good players last year in Cotton, Hanowski, J. Festler, and Lukas Jorgenson. Now that Cotton has 2 years of varisty expeirence and the others have the first year under their belt. They can only get better. Ben Hanowski is expected to make a huge impact towrds the Little Falls program as well. All of the defense excluding one, and their golaie is also coming back. I do not see any reason for the flyers to be a weaker team than last year. If anyone has some other explanations, pleae share them.

A little touchy, aren't you? If you read my post correctly, my point was that LF had stronger leadership which they lost from last year than Sartell lost from last year. If you also read my other posts on section 4A you will see that I have generally stated my opinion that LF will be a contender for the section title this year. I think the question mark for LF is their defense... am I not right? That was their question mark last year and even according to you not much has changed from last year.

Little Falls

Post by hockeyplaya »

Sounds to me like you are all giving little falls too much credit. First of all Alexandria is ranked 12th in the State, and Little Falls is no where to be found in the rankings. Not only that everyone knows that Alexandria has a better program. They have better coaching, better talent, Little Falls just doesnt have as good of athletes as Alexandria. That's proven in every sport, except maybe cross-country.

Name one player from Alexandria that even comes close to matching Jared Festler or Ben Hanowski in talent wise....... The only player I can think of in this section is Joshua Petit (don't know how to spell his last name) from Wadena. The only reason Alexandria is rated high is because they dropped down a class, but all be laughing when reality hits cause theres not much of a difference between Class AA and A anymore. Remember what happened to Wilmar.

Not a difference beween A and AA anymore? Are you kidding me? Maybe the top 10 or 12 teams iin A can compete with AA teams but after that the skill level of teams drop off dramatically.

I agree, there is a significant difference between A and AA. But Alexandria was moved down to A because that is where they belong. At this point I would still consider them a favorite, though. They were decent last year and didn't lose much. You really can't tell until you see some scores posted, though.

I'll give you a player that's as good as festler, hanowski (sp?) and pettit.

Matt Waclowik (sp?) from Fergus Falls. He ain't the fastest, but he has speed. He ain't the biggest but he'll definately knock some people on their ass. But on top of all of that he can handle a puck like it's glued to the end of his stick.

Little Falls

Post by hockeyplaya »

haha lfhockeyfan99 you have got to be kidding me. Name one person on Alexandria as good as Festler or Hanowski? You should be asking where they would be on alex, probley 3rd line. You keep thinking your flyers are top notch, and remember that when we beat you 5-0. So theres not much of a difference from class A to AA huh? Let me ask you this, would have your worthless flyers been in the state tournament last year had they been in the same section as Moorhead, and Roseau? But according to you there isnt much of a difference from A to AA, your right. I forgot 4A has top notch teams like Little Falls, Wadena, and FErgus Falls. So when reality hits you, I'm gonna be the one laughing at the Flyers
