Suggestions for a good youth hockey bag?
The dufflebag I've been using for my first grader are not he greatest. I see many types of custom hockey bags. Are they worth it? Recommendations?

Stay away from the bags with wheels. They are too big and clumsy. Besides, carrying a bag over their shoulders is good for them anyways.Sunsetcliffs98 wrote:The dufflebag I've been using for my first grader are not he greatest. I agree with everyone else to not get wheels with bags. Those are for lazy kids.observer wrote:Traditional duffle. All of the stuff needs to come out of the bag every night anyways.
This bag is a really good bag (to me separate skate pockets are good things) and very affordable IMHO:

Rule #1 - No wheels
Rule #2 - Kids carry bags, not parents (you want to play, you carry the bag)
Rule #3 - Proper bag etiquette (don't just throw it down where people are walking. If you must set it down, find a spot in the corner)
But anyway... I like the backpack style bags like this one, and it even comes in camo

After years I've learned, just a basic, decent size duffle. And when you get home (from every hockey) take stuff out to air out. Takes about 2 min to empty bag and does wonders, as does running gear through laundry every month or so. Also- once your kid starts playing AAA or whatever he'll probably get free bags from team with the team fee too. Bottom line- don't make it complicated. Good luck.
