Congrats to the newest:
Sam Moore and Mara Post !!!!! to the newest womens D1 program starting '11-'12 - Lindenwood University

Also, Megan Cox from SSM via Hudson, WI will be joining Sam & Mara - Congrats to Megan!!

From my understanding Lindenwood is moving to NCAA D1 competition
http://lindenwoodlions.com/news/2011/5/ ... 10839.aspx

That would make 47 MN girls going D1 from this years class of '11..maybe more???

I'd say it is a stroke of good fortune no Minnesota player had made a commitment to Wayne State.

Brooky, I agree. Glad to hear that know one tried to recruit and "mask" the fact that there was not gonna be a 11-12 season. If they did knowingly (is that a word?) to recruit for next season, that would have been terrible.

I believe you meant to type Megan Cox from SSM. To the best of my knowledge Megan Fox does not play hockey. :wink:

Agree Megan Cox loves the game and always seems to have a smile on - - few players are effective at both D & F she is unique in her abilities!

Congrats to her whole family!

Gotta be getting close to having all those moving on to division I in 2011-2012 being committed. Anyone feel there are a few more left...more than a few? Quite a class I'd have to say.

I havent seen anything on Shannon Kaiser...Please let us know if you hear anything on her..

Also - Need to congratulate Katie Erickson from Elk River who will be playing hockey this fall at Lindenwood University. Katie is a '10 grad from Elk River. She went to St.Cloud State on a softball scholarship last year and now has transferred to Lindenwood.

We can't add her to the 2011-2012 D1 commits - or can we? Technically she would be a sophomore, but hockey wise she would be a freshman...

Need some help on this one..

Sounds like a pretty straight forward transfer situation which are generally not included on commitment lists. I'd have to say, it's very encouraging to see Lindenwood truly committed to building a solid varsity hockey program for the women...by all indications. Right now there undoubtedly at a bit of a recruiting disadvantage vs. more established programs but have landed some nice players already before ever playing a varsity game. Bodes well for their future...and I wonder if that might be in the WCHA at some point.

I don't see any Wisconsin towns listed in this thread. Maybe you know something I don't know - which player(s) are you referring to?
http://umdbulldogs.com/teams-womens-hoc ... age=roster

#33 appears in this thread as a 'Minnesota' DI recruit. But apparently she hails from Wisonsin :shock:

...that should clear up my original post in this thread from a few months/pages ago.

Turner played for a Duluth HS Team and the MN Thoroughbreds - possible her parents moved.

But this thread lists her hometown as Duluth, Minn. She reported Iron River, Wis. as her hometown. She's not from the State of Hockey, so she doesn't count towards Minnesota's total number of DI recruits for 2011-12.

So let's add her to Wisconsin's total. Does that bring the entire state up to four or five DI recruits this season? :)

I was sad to hear that Niagara is dropping it's program. Hopefully all these young women can find a new home if they wish to resume their hockey careers elsewhere in 2012-13. However, I understand that they won't lose their athletic scholarships if they choose to stay at the university.

I see that RIT will be making the jump from D3 to D1 and replacing NU in the CHA beginning in 2012-13.

Maddie Peake from Mounds View will be playing hockey at Princeton next year. She was an All-State player, lead SEC conference in scoring and was a key player for Mounds View's trip to the state tourney.

I agree. I know you are posting this under 2011-2012 commits but another Minnesota girl is on this team too even though she was a 2010-2011 commit.

Chelsea Witwicke.............D..........Roseville..........Roseville, MN?

Hopefully all of the girls will find something they want whether it be for hockey and/or academic reasons.

The MN - Niagara ladies are all heading to different teams next year.

Kalli Funk -> SCSU
Delaney Middlebrook -> RPI
Chelsea Witwicke -> Lindenwood
