I know its only June but trying to get a feel on 14UA teams.
Grand Rapids is having a team this year, and looking to see what else is out there.
Also, if interested in coming north to play, shoot me a message.

STMA is co-op'd with Monticello and Annandale (maybe others) and play under the banner of North Wright County. Yes, they do have a JV program.old goalie85 wrote:Does STMA have an JV ??

Alexandria will have its first U14A team for the 2011-2012 season and will be looking for other U14 teams to fill out a schedule. Any other U14A teams looking to schedule games should feel free to contact the AAHA scheduler. Info can be found on the Alexandria Area Hockey Association website at: http://www.alexhockey.org/
That's great. Usually that means 2 full teams at 14. A and B. Hopefully not just a recruiting bubble coming through but a real growth in numbers. Swinging back and forth, having enough for two 14 teams one year and not enough the next, can be difficult. With solid numbers at 10 and 12 you may be able to keep that up.
Since there is just one high school in Alexandria it can be easier to know what's coming through the pipeline and keep the number of teams each year steady and consistent.
20-30 new mite girls a year is the only way to sustain your numbers through 14 and into high school. Recruiting is one of the most important functions in every association to avoid peaks and valleys in your numbers. It's rare for the numbers to be exactly right which would be somewhere between 28 and 34 girls at 14A and 14B this season.
Maybe Alexandria is just the right size town, without a bunch of options, to accomplish that.

Really ? The one 14A team last year had difficulty competing in the D2/D6 combined league.
If Tartan and Mahotmedi combined to form a 14A team that would probably be more feasible ... maybe a couple Stillwater girls missing their 14A team would be good enough to help the Tartan team.

Re: White Bear U14A/U14B
I may be wrong, but if your Association Waives someone in, aren't they waiving someone in with full rights and priveleges for that one season? Meaning, can't your needed players potentially be on your U14A team vs mandated to the U14B team.wbgirlsythhockey wrote:White Bear is planning on 2 U14 teams this winter, U14A and U14B.
