Hartley is on an Elite League roster...that's usually a good indicator that he's coming back. Any inside info?rudy wrote:JR F Zach Hartley Holy Angels Colo AAAThe Exiled One wrote:Code: Select all

Leaving early
Seems like a pretty healthy list this year. About 20, that we know of. howz that compare to other years?

Here are our lists from the past 2 years--not guaranteed to be complete, but they give a good idea:

So a little over 20 last year, and about 10 two years ago. We're at slightly over 10 for this year at the moment, pending confirmation on a few. And of course there are still a few months for more to leave.
I did notice one big difference: in the other years, the people leaving are primarily from traditionally weaker programs. There are only a handful who leave from the perennial powers, and they almost exclusively go to NTDP or Shattuck. This year, it seems like there are a lot more players from traditionally good programs leaving early

I left Hartley off for now pending confirmation. We're up to 12. I imagine we'll fall short of last year... that was a brutal off-season.
Anybody else hear what Brodzinski's decision is? Any more info about the Hermantown kids?

Carlson is definitely gone, too? Too bad for Albert Lea...The Exiled One wrote:Code: Select all

This player didn't even make the High school elite team. He was on the tryout team but not on the final teams roster? How is going to JRS going to benefit this player if he didn't even make the elite team.
I'm sure he would get more ice time in Albert Lea , MN playing high school VS playing a extra year in Jrs. Unless Fairbanks is really week this year.
I have heard of kids playing AAA hockey there first year and then going to Jrs for there final 2 years. That way they get more time to play and mature rather than sit the first year , unless they get on a new or weaker NAHL team. Good Luck to the kid.

Not sure what you're even trying to say, but "This player" didn't go to the Elite League tryouts... he felt an opportunity to play in the NAHL was better for him than playing in the Elite League. Time will tell I guess, but for all of you out there that think it's easy to make these junior teams, you're sadly mistaken.EH wrote:nickel slots wrote:The Exiled One's post above clearly states....keepyourheadup wrote:Where did Carlson go?

It's actually a little bit of a black-eye on the Elite League if you ask me. A kid is good enough that the defending NAHL champion will take him as a high schooler, but he's not good enough to get an automatic bid into the Elite League? Must just be that southern Minnesota prejudice that they have.

There is no "southern minnesota bias" in the Elite league. Just ask the head of the league.....nickel slots wrote:Not sure what you're even trying to say, but "This player" didn't go to the Elite League tryouts... he felt an opportunity to play in the NAHL was better for him than playing in the Elite League. If you look at the players leaving early most players are heading to the USHL and not the NAHL. The NAHL will be alot stronger and better for this player only if he gets good ice time his first year. The more pine he has to ride or not dressing for games is not good as he would benefit playing on a AAA team like Russel Stovers and then move up to NAHL for his last two years.

You're delusional if you don't think playing in the NA is better than playing AAA. Even if he only plays in half of the games (which I would highly doubt since teams in the NA don't normally commit to a high school aged kid if he's not going to fit into their plans right away), he'll still be practicing 2 hours per day against bigger, stronger players.EH wrote:nickel slots wrote:WHAT?!?!? You must have an axe to grind with the kid and/or his family? Or maybe with Albert Lea in general?? You remind me a lot of the old hotshot. And that's not a compliment.
