Bantams moving to varsity 2011-12
Which top bantams are going to be making an impact at the varsity level in 2011-12? There are four that are currently playing in the Elite League:
Tyler Sheehy, Burnsville
Luc Snuggerud, Eden Prairie
Zach Yon, Roseau
Aaron Herdt, Moorhead
Naturally, these are four "gimmes." Who else is out there?

Curious on Snuggerud...can anyone who has seen him play give a scouting report? Is he going to be a key cog in the EP reloading this year?seek & destroy wrote:Now that they are "high school" here is the list from the other forum...any changes or additions??karl(east) wrote:I posted this thread on the youth forum a while back, which gives us a few more names: http://www.ushsho.com/forums/viewtopic. ... sc&start=0

It probably doesn't hurt when your dad is on the Elite League board and one of your high school coaches is the Elite League coach. Wonder if Prochno from Minnetonka, with 2 years of Varsity Hockey and a State Tourney under his belt wonders about this one

May not be quite what some of you are looking for but Jake Lukasavage, Noah Fortmeyer, Curt Greenbush, and Josh Passolt will imediately step in at St. Louis Park HS from their bantam A team giving SLP more depth from just the one forward they had to rely on last year. These players plus Shjon Podein taking over the program could have SLP turning some heads in class A with a huge turnaround once they get past the original growing pains.

This is where it gets interesting between big metro schools and outstate.seek & destroy wrote:Now that they are "high school" here is the list from the other forum...any changes or additions??karl(east) wrote:I posted this thread on the youth forum a while back, which gives us a few more names: http://www.ushsho.com/forums/viewtopic. ... sc&start=0

There is no doubt Strand, Yon, Poolman, Herdt and Michaud will make an impact on their varsity squads. What about kids like Snuggerud, Spinner, Sheehy, Erickson and Hale who are coming into very strong programs with limited open spots. How likely is it that they jump over older kids that contributed to strong JV progams last year and are experienced with the pace of the high school game?
My thought is that programs with large feeder programs will be more patient with plugging these kids into the varsity level.

I'd be pretty surprised if any of the kids saw any JV time, not all will play top 6/4 min, but they will all play Varsity.PassittoMcConnell wrote:This is where it gets interesting between big metro schools and outstate.seek & destroy wrote:Now that they are "high school" here is the list from the other forum...any changes or additions??karl(east) wrote:I posted this thread on the youth forum a while back, which gives us a few more names: http://www.ushsho.com/forums/viewtopic. ... sc&start=0

Maybe all the defections from HM played a role in his decision. Trophy chasers leaving Hill to chase bigger and better trophies. Ouch.
WBL will be very good defensively but I don't know where the scoring will come from

Morisette will have to step up and bury some goals this season.
Good goaltending and good defense should keep them in games with the lack of scoring. Maybe even let Wahlin skate varsity and see if he could add 8-15 goals.
Sager is going to have to let Carney and company on D rush the puck to create chances, because you are right, the forwards are very thin.
Now that Wahlin made the right choice....What about Carney's buddy from Colorado? Is he coming, and if so, does he have scoring punch to add to the lack of up front talent?

White Bear
I think it is just a rumor about a new kid coming from Colorado, there was a friend of Carneys that stayed with him a bit this summer.
