Thoughts on Cloquet-E-C?
what is the 7AA hockey fans saying/thinking about the Jacks this year? i don't know much about the game of hockey but am a fan. just looking for some smart objective observations. it does seem like their goalie J. Shuer is flying uder the radar. isn't he pretty good? thanks in advance for your thoughts.

I thought they were rebuilding the last three years....MrBoDangles wrote:Should be a major rebuilding year with the players they lost to graduation. I heard that Karson was thinking about Jr's this year but decided to stick around..
They could make things interesting in a couple of years with Karson in the mix.
Go Hounds.
Super sophomore Karson Kuhlman, underrated and best goalie in 7AA in John Scheuer, Coach Esse, and a ton of talented - hard working guys that know their roles and will play those roles to the T.
Their not the best team on paper, but the Jacks will certainly be a threat in the lake superior conference and their own section. A team under estimates them going in, and before you know it, the game will be into the 3rd period with your guys saying to themselves, "what the heck just happened?".

Scary story out of Cloquet today: http://www.mnhockeyhub.com/news_article ... r_id=32760
Best wishes to Coach Esse for a fast recovery. I have a loads of respect for the man whose teams repeatedly ruined East's seasons while I was in high school.

Nothing suspect here. I'm just a fan of the lumberjack hockey team. I just moved to the area 4 years ago, and I grew up in an area where hockey was unknown especially in high school. I'm just looking for insight on the jacks and their upcoming season. I know what is obvious, but others who have been around hockey forever especially hockey in Cloquet and the northland, have a different perspective on things.
The hockey is so amazing in northern Minnesota. I couldn't have any more respect for DE, GR, Hermantown, and others. I don't quite get that Hermantown plays in single A but that's from a guy who doesn't know much. All I know is that DE is a juggernaut, GR has tremendous history, and Cloquet has a history of knocking DE and GR off their perch when least expected.

Cloquet and Elk River were both non-threats to get past the semi-finals last year. Duluth East and Grand Rapids will both be the favorites, but Cloquet and Elk River have closed the gap to the point they will be capable of an upset in the semi's this year. Forest Lake is a wild card, but I just think in the quarterfinals that Cloquet's coaching or Elk River's goaltending will be too much for Forest Lake to overcome. If Forest Lake can be competitive though, it will be good for 7AA hockey and make things more exciting for the fans.
