That could be, she does play hockey in Lakeville there with the guys sometimes! She will do well
Could also be because her former HS coach is a parent in the LSHS program and was instrumental in getting the previous coach ousted.

"Hey John and Tammy, lets get rid of Perry cause we could bring in Natalie." The other parents say, "Yeah, lets do that. I think we can make this stuff up about Perry and he would be gone."

Its amazing how parents work on the sporting world. Do you think parents act the same way at their own jobs?

It's official (pending a rubber stamp from the Lakeville School Board later this week).

http://www.gophersports.com/sports/w-ho ... 11aac.html

Minnesota women’s hockey head coach Brad Frost has announced that assistant coach Natalie Darwitz will be leaving her post at the University of Minnesota for a head coaching position in the high school ranks.

"It was a tough decision to step away from the U of M,” said Darwitz. “I am looking forward to building a program as the head coach at Lakeville South. I will always value my experiences as a student-athlete and coach at the University of Minnesota."

Tiger...lets face it. The coaching staff at South was bad. They got out coached a number of times. A new direction will be good for the girls and program.

First, I love the "got outcoached" excuse that girls hockey parents use, our daughters are never responsible, gotta blame somebody. If Saterdalen, Ikola, Trebil, Lamere, etc. were MN Girls HS Coaches all of us brilliant parents would be saying they got outcoached.

Defensive Zone, I am going to assume that we are both South parents and that we sat in the same meetings, had the same side/under the table/off the record conversations, emails going, etc. except that I have a guilty conscience and I gotta clear it. Yes, I am estatic that the plan worked out almost exactly as it was envisioned and we now have our new head coach.

When this started, I thought a new direction was needed but thought an assistant leaving would be enough. When I heard who we could have as head coach, I was 100% on board. I too figured coach Perry would resign once everything started rolling. As the stories started flying, I really could not believe what was being said so I had to ask my daughter what was and was not truth. She gave me a lot of "that's not exactly how it happened/what he said" or "she's lying because she's afraid of what her parents would really say or do if they knew the whole story" or my favorite "she's hopes that the assistants/another player don't tell coach the truth/story because then they'd really be in trouble" I even contacted his assistants and asked, they basically said the same thing and even provided more info that were just things parents were worked up about where again, if parents knew the whole truth, they would not have been upset. They felt all of this was not justified. Regardless I stayed on board but did it with my "eye on the prize." Personally, I never thought Strader would ever dismiss him and when I heard coach Perry would not resign and told Strader he would have to fire him (assistant told me after talking to Perry), that this thing was over, but of course we parents were able to step up and skew things some more to get the job done.

Bottom line, Tiger is pretty much correct and in reference to your point about being outcoached is it enough/valid to then enhance/skew the truth in order to get someone dismissed? Is that deserved? Too many girls were focused on boys, points, recognition, etc and too many parents were focused on and creating their own "drama" and worrying about their family's "image" and coach Perry has now suffered and that's very sad. Enough said, I think I can sleep now and enjoy the girls HS hockey I have left to watch. GO COUGARS!

If THAT is going to help you sleep, then I'm not sure why you were having trouble in the first place. You stepped up and participated in getting the guy fired, and you feel bad about it because you had to lie about the guy to do it, and you think an anonymous post absolves you?

The thing that people forget is Perry has a family that he can spend time with and love now. He is probably better without coaching hockey.

The big question I have is; Do parents act this way in their jobs? Just think if you had people at your work form a group to get rid of you for a bunch of BS.

In the end this is just a game parents! We should all make it enjoyable. Its funny how many times I hear from people that hockey parents are crazy people.

My guess, she will be one and done, unless she has a teaching job with it.

What happened in LDC? I thought Brian Johnson coached that team; he is the coach-in-chief for D-5.

I'm guessing it may have something to do with the 5-18 record they threw up last season and the prospect of that being the best record they would see with him as the coach. Coach-in-chief of D-5, isn't that similar to being Vice-President of your daughter's lemonade stand?

My question is how does Lakeville still have hockey? Is that entire organization run out of a dark alley?

What world do you live in? People do this kind of thing at work all the time. If you are unpleasant to work with, have sub-par performance, or regularly disappoint customers you get fired. In good companies this happens above board. In dysfunctional companies you get exactly the behavior described, secret meetings and smear campaigns.

The problem is that high school athletic departments have a lot in common with dysfunctional companies. They don't listen to their customers and they don't monitor the performance of their employees. I don't know if the Lakeville coach was a bum or the bee's knees. It doesn't really matter. It sounds like the athletic department failed to step in and diffuse the situation before it got out of hand. You don't have to give in to every parent demand, but you are a fool not to listen.

Funny thing is that Perry was offered the EP job a few years ago, but chose to turn it down. I can see why, the parents. :)

Yeah, like parents are so different elsewhere. The Minnesota hockey community is so homogenous that it feels like they cloned the same 50 or so people to hang out at each arena in the state.

You mean he was offered a job that wasn't open? The previous coach had been there since '01. Was he offered the EP job before or after he was fired from Jefferson?

Wasnt he an asst. with Ep? Didnt the former coach have issues in the past? I remember hearing about this 4-5 years ago.

I don't know what his title was at EP, but it was hard to keep track of for a while there, as they seemed to have a new staff yearly after Carlson and Peterson left. I think he was the JV coach when he was there, but I could be mistaken.

Morris was there since 01, and I suppose every program/coach has issues, but I would doubt an AD would offer a position to anyone if it wasn't open. If that was the case you would've thought they would've offered the job this year to staff members from last season. While nothing is impossible I don't know that it would be to wise of an AD to offer a currently filled position to someone who was just let go from their last coaching position.

As reported on the boys forum, Trent Eigner has accepted the boys head coaching job at Lakeville North. So it would appear that Josh Hoekstra will be the (sole) head coach of the girls at Rosemount.

Nice time to resign, 5 weeks before the season. There has to be more to this story.
