Minnesota Crunch

Post by dungey »

I was looking today for some information on the Minnesota Crunch and their website is down. I had read previously they had some things happen and they were looking for more players. Anyone have any insight?

You need to contact forum member RSI. His Daughter played there last year and she's from Albert Lea ,MN. I sure hope RSI didn't forget to pay his Daughter's $ 8,000 player fees.

No wonder I couldn't find anything on them. They are now the Grand Rapids Blaze.

Interesting to see they are no longer a Postgrad only program - looks like girls from outside MN can join Team while still in HS but not MN girls? Seems like odd ruling by MN hockey?

I'm hearing that the Crunch/Blaze have folded. Can anyone verify?

Their results so far and remaining schedule are shown on their website:
http://www.grandrapidsblaze.com/schedule.htm

Assuming they're still operational, their next games are scheduled for October 8 & 9 in Blaine, against the Minnesota Elite teams.

Here's part of an email I received -

"The team is under re-organization, with the former owner no longer involved. We lost 3 players this week, one torn ACL and 2 quitters."

I know they are in need of players. But I don't have much more insight than that.

Just checked their website and it's been taken down. It looks like the Blaze, the successor to the Crunch, could be done.

That's too bad for the girls who were still there. I know it wasn't many, but it had to be a bummer to have it end this way. Does anyone know how they got into this mess?

Personal problems with the owners and things just went down hill fast for the team. It all started last year.....sad to see it end that way. I know he fought long and hard to have the team.

RSI ,

Maybe you can give us some feedback on what happened and where your Daughter is playing now? I know you were active in helping advertising this team.

That is too bad, especially for the girls that were on the team this year.
