Two names from the early 70's:O-townClown wrote:Maybe there are a few more old-timers from the early days of Minnesota HS hockey.
How about all the Carlson brothers? They were very good players at Virginia. I remember going to some Blue Devils games as a kid in the 80s and their record book was filled by Carlson brothers (and I am not meaning record penalty minutes!O-townClown wrote:How about Jack Carlson or Mike Peluso as we pay tribute to the Enforcer role? A Hill guy, I thought Langevin in 1972 was better, but a good player, none the less.O-townClown wrote:Somebody named Bob Young is at #25. I don't know who that is. Makes me wonder if someone from the 1972 Silver Medal team makes an appearance. Some Minnesotans were on the team like Bruce McIntosh and Craig Sarner.
You say "ok" to him doing things only a handful of people have ever done. Won 2 championships in 3 years and led his team in scoring EVERY year. ok? Mr. Hockey, ok? Leads EP in all-time scoring. Why is EP irrelevant? Isn't that the team with 2 out of the last 3 state championships and 2 out of the last 3 Mr. Hockey's? Another Rau hater I guess.Slap Shot wrote:He has suited up for three varsity seasons - so have others
Has won 2 state championships - ok
Led team in points all three years (52, 81, & 81) 214 total - ok
Leads Eden Prairie HS in all-time points - irreleveant, its EP hockey
All-State Junior and Senior year - ok
AP Player of the Year - ok
Mr. Hockey - ok
Minnesota Gophers Commit - so what?
3rd Round Draft Pick by Florida Panthers - so what?
im guessing that he is saying ep hockey is irrelevant because he is the all time leading score of a high school team that besides those last 2 championships in 3 years has really done nothing and hassent produced many great players.HockeyMN1 wrote:You say "ok" to him doing things only a handful of people have ever done. I'm usually not big on the spelling police, but what the heck is that?green4 wrote:im guessing that he is saying ep hockey is irrelevant because he is the all time leading score of a high school team that besides those last 2 championships in 3 years has really done nothing and hassent produced many great players.HockeyMN1 wrote:You say "ok" to him doing things only a handful of people have ever done. Ok meaning I agree with the accomplishment working in his favor. Yes outside of the past few years EP hockey has been irrelevant. No, not a hater. Get a grip and learn to look past your provincialism.HockeyMN1 wrote:You say "ok" to him doing things only a handful of people have ever done. If Kyle Rau isn't on the list, why have one? He played on two state title winners, carried more than his share of the load as a senior, and provided some of the most memorable moments in both the Section and State finals. The Exiled One wrote:I'm surprised nobody has mentioned Nick Bjugstad. A nice write up on Phil. Even the part where he scored three goals in 27 seconds against East. The Exiled One wrote:Good call.MNHockeyFan wrote:O-townClown, I believe we will see Phil Hoene, who starred for Duluth Cathedral back in the late 60's, somewhere in the Top 30.
