Scores from last night:
Eagan 2, Cretin-Derham Hall 2 (OT Tie)
Rosemount 4, Breck 5
The fact that unranked CDH was able to tie #12AA Eagan surprised everybody so there were no points awarded in this one. Conversely, all 15 prognosticators (including KRACH) predicted Breck to come out on top against Rosemount, although no one had Breck winning by just a single goal and in fact no one had Rosemount scoring more than two goals against them.
So the net impact of these two games on our standings is: no impact! Everybody picks up a single point and heading into tonight's four games we have:
1. Nordic - 6 points
2. FlyingWarrior - 5
Silent But Deadly - 5
MNHockeyFan - 5
Mr. KRACH - 5
woogieboogiewoogie - 5
7. Seven tied with 4
14. Two with 3

Re: Big Games and Your Predictions - Week 3
FWIW - KRACH now shows LV S as winning the AV game (essentially even odds though)... It switched immediately following the Tue games... So, here's hoping for an "upset" by AV now so KRACH can pick-up the point.MNHockeyFan wrote:I put "Mr. KRACH" in there and compared his predicted winners with our panel of 13 human experts. In all games but three, Mr. KRACH sided with the majority. His three predicted "upsets" are Mound-Westonka over Red Wing and Thief River Falls over Roseau (both tonight) and then Apple Valley over Lakeville South on Friday. Twelve out of thirteen human prognosticators say Lakeville South wins this game.ghshockeyfan wrote:KRACH is late and without scores but will be interesting to see how it does...

Re: Big Games and Your Predictions - Week 3
So I see a score posted the same on two sites for the AV LV S game... Was anyone there? Must have been a good game - AV 5 LV S 4 OT? Is this correct? I also see that one site says Irondale lost 8-0 to Proctor?ghshockeyfan wrote:FWIW - KRACH now shows LV S as winning the AV game (essentially even odds though)... Scores from tonight:
Hill-Murray 6, Warroad 3
Edina 3, Roseau 3 (OT Tie)
Shattuck-St. Mary's U19 Prep 3, Benilde-St. Margaret's 0
Apple Valley 5, Lakeville South 4 (OT)
Some great hockey games to watch obviously but not a great night for accumulating points in our Week 3 contest. In the two OT ties only hockeyfan87 picks up a single point for predicting a tie in the Hill-Murray/Warroad game. And in unranked Apple Valley's 5-4 upset overtime victory over Lakeville South, only FlyingWarrior and "Mr. KRACH" add points to their respective totals - everyone else had Lakeville South winning. Overall it was a pretty amazing night, with three of four games going to OT.
So, going into tomorrow's final action for Week 3, here are our leaders:
1. FlyingWarrior - 7 points
Nordic - 7
Mr. KRACH - 7
4. Silent But Deadly - 6
MNHockeyFan - 6
woogieboogiewoogie - 6
7. Eight tied with 5
15. One with 4
Edited to correct Hill-Murray/Warroad score - see revised point totals below.

Thanks, Nordic, I'm sure Hockey Hub is right. The Hub now has a game sheet (box score) posted and it shows that Hill-Murray scored 6 goals to Warroad's 3. I had taken the 1-1 score from Minnesota-Scores.net - and as of right now that site is still showing the final as a 1-1 tie (ghshockeyfan take note!).Nordic wrote:Hockey Hub shows Hill beating Warroad 6-3 tonight, you show a tie 1-1, which is right?

Three good battles close out Week 3:
Hill-Murray 2, Roseau 0
Edina 5, Warroad 2
Anoka 3, Centennial 2
In the Hill-Murray/Roseau game there were no correct scores, but all contestants had Hill-Murray winning this one so nobody gained any ground.
D16Dad picked the Edina/Warroad score and I did the same in the Anoka/Centennial game, so the extra points helped both of us finish respectable, in a tie for 3rd Place.
Interestingly, the KRACH system proved to be very accurate for the entire week, finishing strong and going three for three tonight. This enabled "Mr. KRACH" to finish in a tie for 1st Place with Nordic. I have a little bit of a hard time congratulating a computer, but I do offer my sincere congrats to Nordic who bested the rest of us humans!
Here are the final standings for Week 3:
1. Nordic - 11 points
Mr. KRACH - 11
3. Silent But Deadly - 10
D16Dad - 10
MNHockeyFan - 10
6. FlyingWarrior - 9
sinbin - 9
8. Five tied with 8
13. Three tied with 7
Look for Week 4 to be posted soon!

Next week I'll have to add some scores so KRACH stands a chance for some extra points for score... That probably hurt KRACH this week - but the entry was late to begin with so... It seems like there were a lot of ties, "upsets," and OT games this week.MNHockeyFan wrote:Three good battles close out Week 3:

Not entering scores did hurt KRACH's chance to finish on top. Nordic did pick up one bonus point on the week - without it KRACH would have won 1st Place all by (his/her/its?) lonesome!
Definitely more ties and OT games than normal! Which I guess is good because it shows balance and makes things more exciting for everyone involved.ghshockeyfan wrote:It seems like there were a lot of ties, "upsets," and OT games this week.
