AHA vs Stillwater

Post by Zamman »

Nice game, final was Stillwater 4 AHA 3.
AHA outshot Stillwater 33 -23 and played great for two of the three periods. Stillwaters goalie played real well. AHA's was not as good but AHA played a lot better that they did against Holy Family.

Stillwater has a player, number 9, who is not on the roster but is real good. Good skaeter and stick handler. Also they have a big defensemen, number 2 that stood out.

I had heard that the player, number 9, is from California but that is just rink talk. I am sure someone will post.

AHA is 0 -2, but could be 2 -0. They will have a rough time but so far look ok.

Zam Man - Not sure what game you were watching - Stillwater dominated the first 2 periods. AHA did control play in the third - which isn't to hard when you have a man and 2 man advantage. IMO, AHA will is going to have a hard time winning their conference. AHA outshot stillwater in the third by a significant margin - 16 to 2 or something like that however all of those came from the man and 2 man advantage. Looked like the refs felt sorry for AHA in the 3rd. AHA PP in the third moved the puck well. Neither team very strong but it was entertaining. Also noticed Stillwater fans outnumbered AHA fans by about 3 to 1....

none of the d from stillwater really stood out, although no. 2 is a big kid, i think stillwater has a solid but small top 4 defenseman

1st was even, 2nd went to Stillwater, 3rd went to AHA. Overall, the game was even and could have gone either way. Stillwater fans showed their true colors during the National Anthem. Completely classless.

bears - as an outsider , I thought the national anthem was funny - and a nice spin. How do you criticize kids for signing the national anthem? You dont see that everyday. Neither team was very impressive. Amazing how quickly AHA has fallen from Grace.....

Thats what happens when you have no feeder program of your own. They got pounded by kids leaving the program and other privates have scooped up kids that might otherwise have gone to AHA. I believe they'll be back but its going to take a few years.

That's what happens when you take your eye off the ball. Why did all the players leave? I can count 6-8 strong players in the last few years. The luster is gone. It will be very difficult for AHA to rise again.

It's not surprising that the people leaving are the same ones that left other programs to be at AHA. The fickle are never satisfied. Grass is greener, etc. etc etc.....

No question. A lot of the privates end up with similar players (and families).

Trebil did a great job building this program. Billy will take over and the program will be back to the early 2000's quicker then you may think. Kids still transfer in, even if the team is down they want to play. I think Hill went throught this before and made their way back, it only takes a few kids to come in and then the doors are open and you are back. Look at BSM they are the hot private school in the southwest metro right now. How many kids on BSMJV wish they could transfer to AHA and play varsity that are varsity level. No question the landscape has changed, Holy Family is in the mix BSM, Providence. A change at the top sometimes is what it takes. Time will tell what happens to AHA, but the school is making an effort to rebuild their sports programs. I don't see AHA going to Class A, they stepped up to AA unlike some other 494 and 35E school.
The Stars will be back and for that matter this season is only 2 games old for the Stars don't be surprised if they pull some playoff magic out of the Heavens.
