HAPPY'S AA RANKINGS 12/18/11

Post by HappyHockeyFan »

Ok here we go, my second edition rankings:

#1-DULUTH EAST - Continue to roll along, this week an interesting game with Centennial who have played three Top Ten teams to within 2 goals or less, Minnetonka, Maple Grove and Elk River.

#2-MINNETONKA - Continue their strong play and have only given up 3 goals in their past 4 games. Stillwater this week could possibly give them a game.

#3-MAPLE GROVE - Also continue to handle their competition, Centennial was able to keep it close. Big game against BSM this week.

#4-EAGAN - A couple of blowout victories against weaker teams this past week, scoring 19 goals and giving up just 2. Apple Valley this week, would be a much bigger game had Fasching, Michaelson and Pedrie stuck around.

#5-BURNSVILLE - 2 convincing wins this past week over South Suburban competition. This week features a big matchup with Eden Prairie and then Prior Lake who cant decide yet what kind of team they are.

#6-EDINA - A Big jumper this week, moving up 6 spots with their convincing sweep of the Edina Classic. Looks like the coaches did right by cutting those seniors and going with the young talent, they are for real. Blaine provides a nice test for them this week.

#7-EDEN PRAIRIE - 1-1-1 in the Edina Classic was a decent showing but they move down one with Edina's impressive performance and of course the loss to them as well. They travel to Burnsville this week for a big game.

#8-BENILDE ST MARGARET'S - Put up a couple of wins this past week, one lopsided to a very weak Holy Angels team. Big game against Maple Grove this week, a good chance to move up with a win.

#9-ELK RIVER - They also go 1-1-1 in the Edina Classic and move up a spot with Grand Rapids getting swept. Osseo this week.

#10-GRAND RAPIDS
- Getting swept in the Edina Classic didn't help their case for staying in the Top Ten. However, they were without their best player and they did play all three teams close. So for now they remain Top Ten. Duluth Marshall this week, could be a close game, a loss will knock them out of the Top Ten.

#11-Blaine
#12-Wayzata
#13-Moorhead
#14-Centennial
#15-Brainerd
#16-Roseau
#17-Andover
#18-Hillmurray
#19-Cloquet
#20-Bemidji

Teams to Watch: Jefferson, Forest Lake, Roseville, Stillwater, White Bear Lake. ANY and ALL comments are welcome...enjoy... :D

Good job overall. BUt on this Edina comment, I don't think the fact that they beat some mediocre teams in the Edina Classic means all that much, and it certainly isn't evidence one way or the other as to how the team would have been if Giles had kept some of those seniors. Just like Herb Brooks dad (when he told Herb "I guess they cut the right guy") didn't know how Team USA would have done in 1960 if they'd kept Herb.

I don't disagree with your main point, but not sure if too many people will agree that EP and Rapids are mediocre.

I guess my point was more that their decision doesnt seem to be a bad one, not that the seniors wouldnt have done well.
