Suburban East Teams in Holiday Tournament Action

Post by WHAFightingSaints »

SEC Teams participating in Tournament action starting today.

South St. Paul Premier: Wakota Arena South St. Paul, MN
Woodbury (4-3-2 overall)
Hastings (3-5-0 overall)

Woodbury vs. Hastings 6:00PM
Unfortunately these two teams meet in the first round even though they are conference foes, interesting scheduling by the folks in SSP.

Schwan’s Bronze Cup: Schwan’s Super Rink (#1) Blaine, MN
Cretin-Derham Hall (3-5-0 overall)
Mounds View (2-4-0 overall)

Cretin-Derham Hall vs. Providence Academy 2:30PM
The Raiders move from the Silver to the Bronze bracket this year.

Mounds View vs. Hudson (WI) 5:00PM
Mustangs looking to turn their fortunes around after struggling out of the gate.

Schwan’s Silver Cup: Schwan’s Super Rink (#4) Blaine, MN
Stillwater (4-1-2 overall)
Forest Lake (4-4-0 overall)
Roseville (6-2-0 overall)

Stillwater vs. Lakeville South 12:30PM
The Ponies suffered their first loss of the season last week at the hands of the highly ranked Minnetonka squad, more offense coming at them today with Kloos and the Cougars.

Forest Lake vs. Bemidji 5:30PM
The up and down Rangers will have to be on the up today to have any chance of knocking off the visitors from the north.

Roseville vs. Blake 8:00PM
This is the third straight year that these two teams have met in the opening round, Blake has come away with an OT win and a shootout win, the Raiders will try and reverse the trend. Possible 2ndround matchup with SEC foe Forest Lake.

The Woodbury/Hastings game counts as a Suburban East Conference game. It was done this way last year also. The game counts as a Woodbury home game with the teams meeting in Hastings in early February for the second game of their conference match-ups.

I Believe the North St. Paul - South St. Paul also is counted as a CSC game too. Final tonight was North St. Paul 6 , South St. Paul 0 - 4 goals for George Splichal.

Eagan 3 Woodbury 2 at Wakota.

Woodbury led 2-0 in second period. Josh Erickson was outstanding in goal for Woodbury. Game ended with Woodbury 6 attackers to 3 defenders with another delayed penalty on Eagan that would have carried into OT.

Eagan is very very good up front and at D - goalie doesn't get much work in games.
