Latest 03 Blades Tryout
Bona fide tryout or shameless fundraiser? Do you really have to hold a tryout where the first round you get to pay $30 and if you are asked to come back the next 2 are $15 each? All of these to fill one remaining spot on the team? You couldn't pick that one kid from the 3 on 3 get togethers you have been running?

If you have to ask you probably already know the answer.HockeyDad41 wrote:Bona fide tryout or shameless fundraiser? Yeah, except for the kids already committed to other programs. They got a late start this year up there.MrBoDangles wrote:Almost all of the north metro talent is going Gold.
Look for complete roster overhauls next year when the families (99's, 00's, 02's) they were calling don't have money invested elsewhere.

Do you see the early tryout trend continuing or even changing to something like a multi-year commitment going forward? Sounds crazy, but so did a 2011 March tryout for the 03 machine's 2012 season.MnMade-4-Life wrote:Yeah, except for the kids already committed to other programs. It would be nice to see a top level team come out of the super rink.

What I see is your kid being so sick of you and hockey by the time he is 15 he ends up play JGold and not even making the High School team. Check back with me and 6 years and tell me it was all worth it.HockeyDad41 wrote:Do you see the early tryout trend continuing or even changing to something like a multi-year commitment going forward? I'm really only familiar with the younger levels (01, 02, 03, 04), but didn't the Gold program already have the north metro talent cornered before this last round of tryouts? I'm at the NSC regularly and there is a pretty impressive pile of hardware up there that the 01 02 and 03 teams accumulated this past summer. I know they ran a set of tryouts in the fall (mid-Sept.?) and already had generated quite the buzz around the younger teams. I don't think there was any mass defection to other programs at the younger levels (in fact, an earlier post referenced merging in the TC Bulls kids)....perhaps this late round of tryouts was only to fill a spot or two(??). At least they only charge $10 for the tryout instead of $60.MnMade-4-Life wrote:Yeah, except for the kids already committed to other programs. I saw the display at the super rink as well, but I wasn't familiar with the tournaments they won. Is the cheese cup a big tournament? I thought I heard they were in that walleye cup with the blades at the younger levels last summer but don't know how they did.

They had a team in the Walleye at the 02 and 03 levels only, I believe. The 02's didn't fair too well. The 03's took 3rd or 4th. I watched the 03's play the Blades....evenly matched, back-and-forth, could've gone either way....Blades won by a couple late goals if I remember right. Also wathced them beat the Jr. Admirals team that my friend's kid plays on. His opinion after seeing his kid play against the Gold and Blades teams was the Gold team actually had a better collection of kids and goalie.HockeyDad41 wrote:I saw the display at the super rink as well, but I wasn't familiar with the tournaments they won. Who knows?

MG managed about 5 shots on net in their game against 02 Blades at Golden Walleye. MG's GW team had what they considered upgrades over their regular summer roster. In a scrimmage between the same teams MG did not get a shot on goal.

I remember the 02 Gold/Blades game at the GW being a little closer than that...I remember a 3-1 or 4-1 game...maybe I'm mistaken. Regardless, I agree the 02 Gold team got stomped pretty good in that tourney. Toronto brought down a couple nice teams.

Puck you should know all about that, its your specialty. If you want to know more about puck he used to be Judge and Jury before he changed to a new moniker.ThePuckStopsHere wrote:What I see is your kid being so sick of you and hockey by the time he is 15 he ends up play JGold and not even making the High School team. Hey puck ... I'm only going to say this once. So no need to try to troll me out.ThePuckStopsHere wrote:No one hides my identity better than your post, please keep it up honey.Pucksahater wrote:Puck you should know all about that, its your specialty. You're a piece of work, really you are.
Most everyone on this 'bored' understands that their boy won't play after high school outside of the local beer league. I just hope my kid learns enough about respect and discipline to be a better man than I am.
He's already got you beat by a long shot.
So in conclusion, go eff youself.
