Tonka had to make the bus trip north and play the Spuds in their rink and still took it to them at the point in the game you might have thought they'd run out of gas.

The Spuds now have to make the cross-state trip day after tough Tonka game and play DE at home and DE has been off since Wed.

Hounds survived a little third period scare, but took care of business well enough.

A mildly adventurous third period--a couple of defensive lapses, and not Dylan Parker's finest night--but the Hounds did what they needed to do. The Olson-Toscano-Valesano line had a big game; I continue to be a fan of the new line combinations. The first two periods were comparable to the effort against Maple Grove, while the third period was a bit choppy.

Moorhead was rather chippy; the game involved a lot of penalties and a scrum in the Moorhead net late in the third. The Spuds had some nice moments in the early third when they maintained their discipline, and Bitzer made a bunch of good saves to keep it somewhat close. Shots were 46-17, and that was pretty indicative of the gameplay.

Nice to see a packed house at the Heritage Center once again tonight. I hope that continues through the rest of the season.

Beaulieu had his best period of the year in the first, when the Hounds rang three off the pipe, twice within 30 seconds, and one off the crossbar. Two were by Beaulieu, to go along with his 2 goals.

East lacklusterly cruised through a 2-man advantage in the second, wheeling and passing, with little shooting and zero goals. From then on, but the Spuds carried the play into the third, when they used quick bursts of pressure to score three goals.

Give credit to Moorhead for not backing down. Give credit to East for winning ugly.

Sounds about right--Moorhead knew they had to be physical to have a chance, and they did a decent job of imposing their style on the game. They clogged up the passing lanes better than some of the other teams East has faced recently, though I could have done without the chippiness. It got a little ugly at times, but fortunately there weren't any lasting consequences.

Beaulieu has come a long way in just the past few weeks, though this is no time for this defense to rest on its laurels. Year in and year out, this coaching staff does an excellent job with its defensemen.

The line to get in and buy tickets was pretty long at 6:30 or so. Don't know what time you got there but I think they only had one ticket booth opened. Whether that's poor planning or what, I have no idea.

Biggest crowd I've seen at the Heritage in the four years it's been open.

Roed said they only scheduled one person to run the ticket booth, so it was poor planning. Beaulieu has a great stick and it's finally showing. Bitzer played great and kept his team in it until their offense started to show up. Fun game to watch all in all.

Yeah, got in the outside doors about 6:40, and walked up the stairs to see the scoreboard at the 10:00 mark of the first period. Right after the game started, some guy was walking around with a roll of adult tickets, but of course, he was only taking exact amounts of cash. When I got to the window, they did have a second person though. Oh well.
