Wayzata scored first on a rebound goal about 5 minutes into the game. Omg controlled the puck for about 10 min but didn't score. Wayzata scored with like 30 seconds left in the first and again with 5 seconds left. End of 1 was 3-0. Wayzata scored first in the second on a shot the goalie would have liked to have had back, then omg switched goalies. The teams then traded goals and after 2 I want to say it was 5-2. In the 3rd wayzata scored a few PP goals to get to 8.

i know you are not a coach, not a parent, just happened by the rink etc..
but truly curious..what happened? assume your boys played well but 8-2?
Maple Groves goalie played very poorly, let in 2-3 soft goals at the beginning, and everything went down hill from there. Very "uninspired" ( for lack of a better term) performance by MG.
Also, at the end of the game, #5 on Maple Grove got a 5 min major for checking from behind and 2 min penalty for roughing in the same shift.
Wild 3 goal flury to start the game put the Irish on their heals, although they never gave up. Overall both teams played a solid game. Predict they'll meet again at Regions.

Yes it is true that EP and Kennedy tied. Hats off to the Kennedy goalie who played well. Let's just say over the course of a long season a team is occassionally going to be flat. Which is what happened last night. Plus add a couple of shots off the post and one off the crossbar and you end up with the result you see. Likely a very different story if the teams are to play again.
Also just saw the comment about the coaches whistle and "again". Funny but not true. EP kids left the rink at the time they normally do and at least for the high school kids they were home getting ready for the 3 finals they had today. Yes there are some things more important than hockey!
