They will be competitive in the Tournament (if they don't fall into a coma in Sections). Whether that translates into a championship, 3rd place, or 6th place, who knows. We'll find out in March. But they will provide entertaining games.
Perfect summary. Tough, physical, skilled team that is no question top 5 (IMHO, 4th best team in the state) team, that should make the tourney (barring a major upset) and could fall anywhere from 1st-6th in the tourney depending on how the bounces go, injuries, seedings, etc.

How dare we have thoughts that we might be as good as East or Edina and really what right did we have beating Hillmurray the other night?? We should be ashamed of these horrible thoughts right?? Whatever...I apologize that our non-traditional team has had the gall to step on the toes of some of the traditional powers that be...NOT!! You bring up some close games that Eagan has won but ignore the other teams..like how about the fact that D.East only beat Burnsville 4-2 and Eagan won 8-2, D.East only beat Class A STA by a goal and Superior by a goal, Edina only beats CDH 3-2, STA 3-2, WBL 3-2 and Burnsville 3-2, again, Eagan beat them 8-2...Teams have off games or sometimes other teams come in with great game plans and execute them well or in a couple of your examples of Eagan they faced a really hot goalie, they put 50 shots on net against both EP and Woodbury, it happens. Judging team talent is so much more than just comparing scores, its going to the rink and watching them play, and I have done alot of that this season, having been at the rink to watch over 35 games. I have seen them all play, can you say that?? And I am not just talking about watching a live stream on the internet. Trust me, Eagan is just as talented as the top three. Will they win it all? Who knows, Can they win it all? Yes, without a doubt. And because you keep bringing up last year and the loss to EP in semifinal, lets not forget that Eagan beat them earlier in the year and maybe, just maybe Eagan wasnt quite ready for the pressure of that Semifinal game. Eagan was a mostly junior team with all those players playing in their first ever State Tourney, EP had a team full of Seniors that many had played in the tourney a couple years before. They were probably much more prepared for that type of game. So yeah, I do see a difference between last year 3rd place team and this years team. And you know what, we are proud of our 3rd place finish as an up and coming program, its really sad that some teams cant appreciate it because no matter how much you degrade it, it takes one hell of a good season to accomplish it.
edina might play down to some of its competition but hey they still win not to mention they have beat the teams Eagan has lost to... take away the one bad game against tonka and there 3-1 with a O.T loss to the teams that beat Eagan
Those might be facts, but here is another fact, every poll out there has Eagan over Edina because YOUR facts dont tell the whole story and those that know hockey understand that Eagan is an elite team and should be ahead of Edina. We were better than Edina last year and we are better than Edina this year.
nobody is doubting if they are an elite team or not. everyone thinks there good but saying your better than teams you have not played seems a little risky especially when your team best win is against a hill murray team that has struggled to stay in the top ten. How do we know Eagan is not a flop when they are 0-2 (1-2 depending on which rankings) against the top ten? People thought BSM and Grand Rapids would be top 5 this year too and they have not played to the capability that people thought they would play up to. Eagan could be the same way but we won't know because there schedule was weak.
Also people might have Eagan over Edina but im sure many people would have no problem flipping those and having Edina ahead of Eagan, Eagan is ahead because of the expectations people have for them and they have not had a chance to prove themselves so moving them up or down really seems unfair
oh and saying Eagan was better last year makes little sense. they went 1-1 against each other last year and just because Eagan won the 3rd place game that makes them better? No. the teams got in a big fight the first time around and so they really didn't like each other so when Edina lost the Semi's the Senior heavy team really was out there for hits more than the game, as i recall Senior Jon Cote came across the ice to punch a kid in the face in the 2nd which ended up causing him to be ejected, my point is they really could have tried more but they decided to let some anger out. But hey you can just say i'm making excuses and go and put up that 3rd place banner down at the eagan rink

Well as long as you've given us permission....you, Sir, are making excuses.

Losing games doesn't matter when you're Edina and have anger management issues...it just matters when you're Eagan and have a schedule of weaker opponents? It's really too bad that the Hornets didn't complete the home-and-home by playing down at that Eagan rink this year, isn't it? Would have made this discussion a whole lot simpler. :(

well if Eagan was losing to weaker opponents then yes it kinda matters, but there good enough to beat teams like Eastview and Jefferson while the Edina losses don't effect them so much because the teams they have lost to are ahead of them in the rankings but thats regarding this year, your talking about last year and how they have anger problems, i know one kid for sure had some anger issues but Eagan was just as much apart of the fight as Edina was if you don't buy that here is the video to watch

and yes it is to bad they could not play again this year would have liked to see that over games with CDH or WBL but you cant get them all
