I think that Chan will get the 5 seed over Holy Angels.shotpassskate wrote:As I see it right as of today.
1. Edina
2. Burnsville
3. Prior Lake
4. Jefferson
5. AHA
6. Chanhassen
7. Shakopee
8. Kennedy
I really hope we get a AHA vs. Jefferson 1st round game. Chanhassen has a right to being seeded ahead of AHA as they went 1-0-1 vs them.
I bet Chan or AHA 4, then the other 5....MHGr8ness wrote:I think that Chan will get the 5 seed over Holy Angels.shotpassskate wrote:As I see it right as of today.

Times: Seems to alternate each year with 6AA. Should be the later games this year, at both Braemar & BIG.East Side Pioneer Guy wrote:What have been the typical start times for the 2AA semifinals? And how tough a ticket has this been in recent years?
Tickets: Not nearly as difficult as a 6AA game.
Generally, my experience has been parking is hard at Braemar, but you will always be able to get a ticket. It's a large capacity rink so you'll always get in.
BIG: the parking is hard AND tickets are tougher just because it's not as large capacity wise. Also, to avoid any home ice, Edina has been one of the two BIG games since they moved to a non-Mariucci semifinal, so that may contribute some, but most other games are packed there as well.
You get there early, you'll have no problem at either venue, for both 2AA & 6AA.

Chanhassen will win the Missota with wins over Farmington and Shakopee, and finish ahead of AHA. With that, they'll get the higher seed. As weak as Jefferson has been this year, they should be the fourth seed. The Jags beat Burnsville and tied both Centennial and Apple Valley. That's hardly a strong resume but Chanhassen has lost to Park, Delano, Rochester Lourdes, New Prague, and tied AHA. Their best win was over an AHA team that hasn't won a game outside of the Missota, and finished behind them. The Storm may be on the rise over the next several years, but at this point it would be pure political correctness to reward Chanhassen for being a conference champion, by putting them ahead of a Jefferson team who, despite a dismal record, has still proven itself more. I agree though that this is all academic--this is the weakest section two in years in terms of depth.
2AA
Delano and Lourdes are solid clubs and have been ranked in or near the top ten for class A all season. Everyone seems to forget Chan also beat Blake on their rink, another top 10 team.
Regarding New Prague, they have one of the states best goalies in Joe Morris, who many may have never heard of. New Prague is a tough place to play, just ask Zamman
Scheduling is a typically a 2yr commitment. Since Chan was a new team last season this years schedule was 90% set. Next years schedule for Chan will see some increased competition.

Now with a 6-6 tie for the Jags over Eagan, I think the PL/JHS game will determine the 3rd seed. Jefferson has improved as of late, while PL hasn't won a big game in quite some time. AHA/JHS battle is that much more likely after a great effort by the Jags. Time will tell, but this JHS PL game will be crucial come thursday...
The best, period

Prior Lake is four points head of Jefferson with two games left. Unless they lose both their games (to Eastview and Jefferson) and Jefferson also beats Lakeville North, they'll finish ahead of the Jaguars in the conference. No way they don't get the higher seed, whether they lose to Jefferson or not, if they finish higher in the South Suburban. (may possibly be different had Jefferson swept them, but the best Jefferson can do is split). The Jags will play Chanhassen in the quarters, and Prior Lake gets Holy Angels.

Re: 2AA
Chanhassen only has 5 wins over teams with a winning record (Blake, New Prague, Northfield (twice), and New Ulm) All class A schools. Section 2AA is just that: AA. They have 9 wins against teams with less than 9 wins. Who cares if they won a talent depleted (other than New Prague) conference, they wouldn't be in the game with the likes of Burnsville and Eagan. Its not a political discussion to put Jefferson at a higher seed, schedules do matter and if Chanhassen had played the same schedule as HA,Jefferson, Burnsville, Edina, and even Prior Lake, they would most likely be well under .500 and there would be no "spin" on the discussion.blueblood wrote:Delano and Lourdes are solid clubs and have been ranked in or near the top ten for class A all season. 2AA
Chan has 17 wins and will most lilkely hit 20, along with a conference title. The Jags have 6 wins, with only 1 of the wins against a +.500 team.
That's the resume of a team that should have home ice for the first round of the playoffs?
The Jags had all of the opportunities they needed to earn a playoff home game and capitialized only once (to date) when Burnsville was struggling in January
FYI - Several 2AA/SSC teams refused to play Chan this year. Why do many of the other sections, like 1AA, 3AA & 7AA, that have teams from multiple conferences able to schedule games against each other, but not 2AA? Are they too good for the "AA" Missota teams?
Maybe the MSHSL should mandate teams must schedule common section opponents if they are not in the same conference...

Re: 2AA
Refused? Ya I'm sure they were probably scared. I think its more of a case that they have a limited non-conference schedule. So the question that faces them is: "Should I play Wayzata, Minnetonka, and Centennial or should I play Chanhassen?blueblood wrote:Chan has 17 wins and will most lilkely hit 20, along with a conference title. I am guessing most who comment on Chanhassen have never seen them play. I agree schedule was weak, but that does not dilute their talent. I am not saying they will make a deep run..but if they do, I hope you will make an effort to watch. I think you might have a different perspective.

Actually blue has a point. AHA went through the same thin back in the late 90's. Once they hit the State tourney and was winning against bigger names is when other schools caught on. I cannot remember who was the first, but the old Hastings tournament helped and then they used to play WBL,, that stopped.....Chanhassen will get better competition, but it will take a year or so.
