ER wont be ahead of GR, I know they beat GR but that was in Dec and without Bischoff... Plus ER record isnt great
Every team has players out just about every game for some reason.
A few games to go, but a horse race right now and last race ER won by a nose.
i know but my point is thats the point GR will make at the seeding meeting to be ahead of ER becuase they also look at records and common opponents...
I get what you are selling. At this point I am just not buying.
Overall record is important, but head to head and quality wins and competition also are equated and after seeing Moorehead fall repeatedly (Blaine was rescently beaten by ER) and the head to head loss (regardless of when and who played or did not on each team) I do not believe GR has done enough to move ahead.
Still hockey to be played before the 15th to make a move for one of them to solidify the spot.

Should be an interesting seeding meeting.
How interesting would the meeting have been had Cloquet beat East?

Be fun to be a mouse in the corner at many of these meetings wouldn't it.
There seems to be a strong sentimental or geographical/cultural desire in some of these posts to keep DE and GR on different sides of the bracket, setting up the chance for an all-Up North section final. For this crowd, it shouldn't be that much of a deal if GR is #2 or #3...the potential semi pairings are the same, and there isn't any home ice advantage to having a higher seed.
But this thinking totally discounts the rest of the section...any chance at all for the lower seeds to surprise? Does CEC match up better against one of these teams?

Depending on the matchup having the last change could be a big deal.
Cloquet has a long history of upsetting East in the playoffs. The pure emotion they bring to that type of game gives them a good shot. That said I also think Elk River with their goalie, coaching, and better forward skill and speed than last year could upset East in the semi's as well. Elk River was leading East 1-0 after the first period last year.
I think most people up North would prefer a North vs North matchup partly because it is just a better atmoshpere during those games. Traditionally when the metro teams go to Duluth for sections they only bring a few hundred fans with them. With the Cloquet, East or GR teams they usually bring thousands of fans with them. A good crowd in ER or Andover is probably 1,000 up North the teams are used to playing in front of 3,000 at a regular season game. Northern teams just travel better due to there probably being nothing else to do up North other then ice fishing this time of year.

While I understand the sentiment (and the logic), I have to ask, what's more important when it comes to awarding seeds...what happens on the ice, or what happens in the stands?
I think that a few too many people up North prefer a North vs North section final because it's the only way that you can guarantee that a team from "Up North" travels to St. Paul...a type of gerrymandering to ensure proportional representation. It's somewhat similar to the fans in the West Metro that whine about 6AA sectionals being tougher than state, and arguing that they ought have two teams qualifying.

Andover hasn't beaten anybody, unless you want to say ER is somebody. Cloquet will beat ER even if flopped and they have to go to ER. GR will beat Andover whether 2 or 3, but FL will beat Andover in the 1st round if Andovers 3rd. The farthest southern team we might see in duluth is FL. mark it down

It would just be so much better if there were no southern (or rather north metro) teams in this section. Wish Hermantown, Duluth Marshall, and like Hibbing or Brainerd would move in and bump the southern teams out. Just wishful thinking that will never happen I guess...
Agreed on Andover. I was looking at their results today, and was thinking the same thing. 2 one goal wins over Elk River is ALL you've got? And not everyone gets two games against Elk River. Besides that Andover is all hot to trot over a bunch of 1 goal losses and ties. Give me a break.
After East at #1, you could make an arguement for almost every possibility from 2-6.
Like I said before- somebody is going to have to bring some game with them at the end of the month.
There will be some pretty decent teams watching on tv.

I don't know...but their 5 losses on the season are Duluth East, Maple Grove, Eden Prairie, Blaine and Centennial.

In other words, no bad losses. I'd say the #2 seed is warranted.

(DE 6 Andover 1) no bad losses, now that's a section semi or final I want to see I mean DE wants to see
Over everyone? Last years section final: East 2, Rapids 1 in OT (Rapids led 1-0 til 1:30 left in regulation). This year, East 4, Rapids 3. These teams seem to always play one goal games. Last time East and Rapids met in the playoffs when GR had a Gopher commit, Rapids 5, East 4 in OT.
With so many good teams in 7AA I wish we could have Quarterfinal Saturday at Amsoil Arena.
10:00 East vs. St. Francis
12:30 Rapids vs. Cambridge
4:00 Andover vs. Forest Lake
6:30 Cloquet vs. Elk River
