8a representative

Just curious to see what everyone thinks...who is going to be the section 8a representative for the state hockey tournament... Will it be TRF… East Grand Forks… Or Warroad?

Yeah, Roseau opted up years ago because they couldn't make it to state in section 8A

You can be a top team in state and not be the best in your section.

In 97, PageStat's best team in Class A (#7 overall) got 2nd in 8A.
Made it to state in AA the next 3 years, including a championship.

It should be thief river unless they blow it, warroad can play good but the injuries are hurting them lately, if everyone is healthy(besides tanner peterson-out with a knee injury) they may actually have a chance to compete-foster, elson, and a couple others have been out with injuries and were down to 3 starting D verse bemidji yesterday. They have haataja(or however you spell it) the coaches kid, a first to second line forward although a much better football player. Also Smeija(again dont count on the spelling) is playing this year after sitting out a year because of the move who is a decent player and has scored a couple important goals down the stretch. Otherwise its mostly warroad boys unless of course you count hayden Timm as a recruit, moved to warroad from baudette in 9th grade to play.

Yeah,I'm not counting warroad out,it could go either way,any one of the top 3 teams in 8A could come out the champs this year, although I believe TRF is the better of the 3, a big TRF-EGF game tonight will be the tell on the #1 seed, and who is ready to represent the section, and who wants it more, but neither one of the better not forget about warroad, warroad is MORE then capable of upsetting their way to st.paul...can't wait for the section tourney should be some great hockey being played!

section 8a

Post by hocnut »

After what I saw from EGF last night (vs Roso) it looks to me like a Warroad vs TRF final and just a reminder to everyone the section tourney is in Warroad this year. The Black and Gold are always oughest on their home ice.

Anyone know if warroad is healthy,or do they still have a few guys out with injuries?...also I think EGF will pick things back up when the tourney starts.

Warroad should have Elson back. Pederson is probably not going to be effective if he does play. Foster I would put at 70% chance he will be back. Jaycox will be back. Heppner I don't know. I think that's everyone?

After seeing the big 3 in Region 8A this season, TRF is the best of the bunch. As you all have witnessed, anything can happen in play-off hockey, but the Prowlers should prevail.
