Best Student Sections

Post by gray5 »

Im not talking about atmosphere, but about the student sections.
-dense crowd
-best chants
-loudest chants

who do you think has the best. I would say some of the best are Edina, Wayzata, Burnsville, Minnetonka, Maple Grove, Eagan and BSM does pretty good even though their always at a disadvantaged due to school size.

What do everyone else think?
Also do you like when students say personal chants to other schools.

Centennial has the biggest and most organized I've seen. Rapids and East are tough to beat, especially in the playoffs. For playoff atmosphere, Amsoil Arena section final absolutely trounces the finals at Mariucci.

I've never been to the 7AA final, but I would assume you're right. A few things factor into that. First of all, Mariucci sucks all atmosphere out of games. Even big Gopher games seem dull. Also, the fact that there are two games changes things. The end of the first game is always crazy. There are probably close to 12,000 people there at that point, with people sitting in the isles and 2-3 deep watching from the concourse. The second game kind of loses out though because 1/3 of the people leave during warm-ups, and most of the casual observers are gone by the 3rd because its past 10 at that point. Finally, EP has played in it the last few years, and 80% of that school doesn't know that they have a hockey team. If you could get Tonka vs Wayzata/BSM and Edina vs Burnsville, you'd probably get close to the 7AA atmosphere

Isn't that more of a "wish I was still a student" section?

Yes Ive actually been really impressed with BSM student sections. Their not that big of a school and sometimes get huge crowds.
Ok maybe im over estimating a little but its still impressive.

The jags always have a good crowd even away games. The 09-10 season student section for Jefferson had to be the best of all time. Even at away games they had more fans then the home team, really loud and the wittiest chants. Still haven't seen any schools pull the "wheres waldo" game during intermission other then Jefferson. About them jags tonight

The WBL student section was great last year! Especially in Sections and State. It has been very weak this year though. The "Bears!" line this year is obsolete. The student section is lucky to get 30 kids at home games and 15 at away games. The student section should grow once sections start.

Our bears line is a joke this year.. they barley show up to games and when they do show up they never get any chants going it comes from another kid but next year should be better even though the team will be worse

I would say that Tonka has a great one making pagel an awsome place to watch a game.
Listening to 204 and STA go at it last year at state was good as well

pagel

Post by gray5 »

the problem with pagel is that you cant hear tonkas chants nor the other student sections chants. This might seem silly question but do they have sound barriers in the place.
Anybody know this. It just always seems so quiet.

I like the AHA vs Edina students those get real good. But I am looking forward to Section 216 at State. The question is who is going to be their team this year? Will they jump on the Hounds bag wagon or a new team?

I'm guessing it will be a new team, and they will go against East every game. Just a hunch, they like to keep things new.

Rapids always has a rowdy student section, especially during the Rapids-East games :D

Its a melting pot of student rejects.

Their teams lost in sections so they gather to heckle and wreak havoc.

It may sound harsh, but it is true. I will say they come up with one or two funny chants.

Burnsville is dedicated, as is Benilde, Edina is creative, Minnetonka is big, Maple Grove is underrated.

Burnsville gets the nod.

I've heard about them before and I feel like I would enjoy being a part of this. So anyone could join?
