How bad will Little Falls beat Hermantown?

I missed the first period and as mentioned shots were 12-2 in favor of Hermantown and the score was 1-0. What I took from the game was Little Falls was good enough and had the team speed to get to loose pucks and had just long enough to either chip the puck to the neutral zone, dump it into the offensive zone (so Hermantown's D could go tape to tape and come back out) or they'd ice the puck. It was a big game of keep-away, which made it seem boring/sloppy. I'm having a tough time remembering LF the Hermantown zone on a 3 on 2 even...it just wasn't there for them. We can say any shot on goal is a scoring opportunity, but imo LF had a couple and that was it. LF generated virtually NO offense and I'm guessing that is due to the strength of Hermantown's D. Yes, as someone mentioned there were a few takedowns that weren't called on prime scoring opportunities. LF goalie definetly kept them in the game. Hermantown seemed to be in LF zone with short-handed scoring opportunities more then LF had either on PP or even-strength during the 2 periods I saw.
After watching New Prague, Red Wing and Little Falls the last few weeks against Hermantown. New Prague looked like the best out of these three. I'll get a chance to see Hibbing/Hermantown on Fri., so 7A looks like Hibbing/DMarshall/IFalls/maybe Denfeld. Without seeing Hibbing yet, DM is by far a better team then NP, RW or LF. I think LF will struggle in the first round game @ state...as no offense was generated-or Hermantown is just that dominant defensively and I see that they have now more depth @ D as some players were out early on have been getting more playing time, but they have lost a 2nd line fwd for the yr due to inj. from what I understand.

the number one thing i am taking away from this is that hermantown should be worried about their perfect season coming to an end in either the section semi final from a cathedral or rogers depending on the seeding and then an equally tough section final game if they squeek by then. they are a great team but i was expecting more against a little falls team not playing very good hockey this month.

I would think Hermantown will get the #1 seed so they will only have to play one or the other. SCC despite losing to Rogers in their last game will be a tough team to beat. In the section finals. Both teams only lost by one goal to Hermantown in the regular season. Once you get to State it doesn't matter if you have no losses or 10 , its one and done at that point.

OOPS, NOT SURE WHAT I WAS THINKING...YES, H-TOWN WOULD ONLYPLAY ROGERS OR SCC, NOT BOTH. I LOVE THAT CATHEDRAL LOST TO ROGERS...I WAS TOLD THE SECTION SEMI FINAL GAME IS IN ST. CLOUD? I THINK CATHEDRAL HAS A BETTER CHANCE AT HOME THAN AWAY UP IN CLOQUET OR WHEREEVER AGAINST HERMANTOWN.HawkeyPower wrote:I would think Hermantown will get the #1 seed so they will only have to play one or the other. so where is the section semi's and final for 5A? this is the most geographically F'ed up section...cathedral and rogers need to be down south. hermantown need to be with hibbing, duluth marshall virginia...i like to watch games but many people cant do the whole day thing to catch a game or two.HawkeyPower wrote:Section first.also at Heritage in Duluth.

I believe they 5A finals alternates north/ south every other year. Last year it was at Chanhassen.northern_guy wrote:so where is the section semi's and final for 5A? this is the most geographically F'ed up section...cathedral and rogers need to be down south. hermantown need to be with hibbing, duluth marshall virginia...i like to watch games but many people cant do the whole day thing to catch a game or two.HawkeyPower wrote:Section first.also at Heritage in Duluth.

in all seriousness the hawks got extremely lucky against superior and all superior did was pressured them and took away all the time and space for the pretty plays, hermantown looked horrible and if the best they can do right now is a few goal win against a mediocre team then... the writing is on the wall for either playoff or at state when they meet the team that can skate with them and can get quality scoring chances

Superior also only lost to East by one goal. Maybe their not as mediocre as some think. Besides not many teams can dominate every team they play. We will soon find out how far they can go.2good4u wrote:and there still was more hermantown fans than rogers...BigTen wrote:Last year Hermantown and Rogers played the section final at Champlin's arenaHawkeyPower wrote: I believe they 5A finals alternates north/ south every other year. Agreed... They aren't as bad as hockeywatcher thinks they are.HawkeyPower wrote:Superior also only lost to East by one goal. Maybe their not as mediocre as some think.
Superior would probably be a top 10 class A team in MN. They were within 2 goals or less in all of their losses to East, Duluth Marshall, Denfeld, Hermantown, and Cloquet and have pretty much throttled all the Wisconsin teams they played except for a couple.

Based on their games against Minnesota schools, Superior's PageStat rating is 19.17, which would place them ninth in Class A.PuckRanger wrote:Agreed...
