What is the lowest section seed to make it to state?
i am sure with extensive googling on my naked lady machine i could get the answer...but figured someone on here would make it easy and give me the answer
lowest section seen in the last 15 years or so to make it to state? upsets are fun.
anyone have any idea of this years lower seeds that have the largest opportunity for an upset and make it all the way to the X?

Without doing any research at all, last year Alexandria was a No. 5 seed out of Section 6A. Hard to believe too many lower seeds than that have advanced.northern_guy wrote:i am sure with extensive googling on my naked lady machine i could get the answer...but figured someone on here would make it easy and give me the answer

In the past ten years, three #5 seeds have gone to state. Alexandria in 2011, Shakopee in 2005, Lakeville in 2003 (the only #5 seed to make it in Class AA).
More pointless info; Twelve #3 seeds have won, four #4 seeds have won. Didn't calculate how many #2 seeds won their section.
Given time, I'll track back farther.

Not sure on the section seeding, but the 92 Rosemount team took 2nd in Tier II state with 6 wins, meaning if they played 3 section games to get to state, they went into the sectional tournament with only one win and ended up a state runner up which is a head scratcher.Zamman wrote:What was Rosemount back in what 96? they were a lower seed

If you're talking about 1AA, I agree, but since the other teams in the section are also around .500 or below then that wouldn't necessarily make for a low seed advancing to state. I'm curious where this info is on the net. I want to see it.PuckU126 wrote:Teams, that make it to State, with a losing record are actually not that uncommon.DanFromWoodbury wrote:How about Henry Sibley getting to state with a losing record in 97?

Look at the past decades of the teams that made it with a losing record. There are several.
