Tim Sager will come right out and say it.
"Up front, it's probably one of the thinnest teams I think we've had," the longtime White Bear Lake coach said. "We've got one line, but after that, it's slim pickings."

Stay Classy Sager
A coach should be encouraging the team, even if this is how he feels. A public interview like this totally rips the other lines and the respect level for the coach, and even for the best line will certainly drop. Either the guys will fire up and try to prove something, or they will totally fall apart. Not the best timing as they head into playoffs. Maybe he can skate his 1st line for an entire game and see how well they do then. Think a little next time Sager.

I've always kept my thoughts and opinions about Sager to myself. With that being said, I really do not understand why he would say this about his players? With their quarterfinal game on Saturday, I don't see this as a motivational tactic in anyway. They were on a nice stretch before they lost to Hastings in their season finale. It may not effect the outcome in anyway on Saturday, but I just don't see any positives in making this public. It just comes across as him lacking confidence in his team, when alot of players have shown improvement throughout the year.isee wrote:Tim Sager will come right out and say it.

Motivating them by going on the record saying that they are probably the thinnest team he's ever coached? Called his second and third lines "slim pickings"? Classy...UntouchableFlow wrote:Hey now guys, if this is how last year's coach of the year award winner motivates his troops, he must know something that we don't
But hey if that's what it takes to get his team to win...good for him
