Coaching Behavior
Last night I witnessed the Woodbury A Bantam coaches Throw there hats on the ice when a player got a hat trick. Am I right or wrong for thinking this was not a good sportsmanshion act.. Very very Unethical.. What other things have you seen?

Was it a 10-1 whomping and the hatrick goal was the 10th goal or was it a 3-2 game and the hatrick goal was in the final seconds of the game?patience wrote:Last night I witnessed the Woodbury A Bantam coaches Throw there hats on the ice when a player got a hat trick. If you want to get literal about the rule book:patience wrote:Last night I witnessed the Woodbury A Bantam coaches Throw there hats on the ice when a player got a hat trick. (b) A bench minor penalty shall be assessed to any team who’s
players or team officials commit the following actions while
on the player’s bench:
(1) Using obscene, profane or abusive language to any
person.
(2) Using the name of any official in a loud or abusive
manner.
(3) Throwing any object onto the playing area during the
progress of the game or during a stoppage of play.
(4) Banging the boards with a stick or other object at
anytime.
(5) Using threatening or abusive language or gestures
directed at an opponent.
We all get caught up in the game. Should the coaches throw their hats. No. But they are cheering for kids. It's not a big deal. Let it slide.

The refs grined and did nothing about. It really doesn't matter what the score was. Made Woodbury look really bad!!!!!!

You can't seriously be defending this by saying "don't let the other team put up nine goals against you." Obviously you are as classless as the Woodbury coaches.3GoonsWest wrote:There's one really good way to make sure nobody throws a hat on the ice, don't let the other team put up 9 goals against you. Nice moniker, by the way.
Depends, what if it was this kid's very first hat trick EVER in his whole career. IF that was the case then I could understand the coaches getting caught up in a moment helping a kid celebrate something special that he'd never achieved at any level up til then. But other than that, coaches really should try and have a demeanor on the bench that is such that they celebrate team accomplishment in a proper way and so as not to show up the other team.

I was also at the game, and am not a River Heights parent or Woodbury hater by trade. That said, the goal made the score 6-0, middle of 2nd period. Game was over for all practical purposes. Great kid who scored the goal, and his and the players' reaction was not over the top. Coaches on the other hand should be embarrassed - they looked like idiots. Not surprising for this group, and in particular the head coach...unfortunate.
