Calm down people. It means nothing other than it's harder to put their schedule together as they won't get the automatic 10 games in their current conference. It can be a challenge as several teams plan a couple of years at a time and don't leave a lot of open dates. Benilde is smart enough to have probably already spoken with coaches about getting on their schedule next year.
Here's a link to the teams that play an independent schedule. There are several.

I think this will really help their hockey program. Winning conference games 15-1 doesn't help you beat Minnetonka when you get to sections (not saying BSM can't beat them because they definitely could). Here's a question I've always wondered, and please don't crucify me if it has been asked before, but has there ever been any consideration of an all private school conference? You would get some very entertaining games if you had the likes of BSM, AHA, STA, HM, Blake, Breck, TG, etc all in the same conference.

They actually tired to do this about 6 years ago when I went to benilde they were thinking of moving to the Lake Conference however, they felt that it would be too unfair for the other sports besides hockey because all of the teams are in the "Big School" conference.

250 senior class to all the other classic lakes of 500+.
but this 2012 class could easily be in classic lake. but idk about the next classes for BSM
boys basketball-beat hopkins, tonka, EP
girls bball-beat tonka
girls soccer-???
boys soccer-beat tonka but 5+, tied ep?
girls hockey-1-1 vs tonka, beat wayzata, beat hopkins
baseball-always competive vs classic lake besides EP
lacrosse-havent lost a game in a couple years besides blake
but sports like FOOTBALL,volleyball, softball, girls lacrosse would get absolutely drilled
Just think how much revenue a school like bsm would make a year from classic lake-Just football along from opposing teams coming to their stadium, scores might be lopsided but so would money made too.

yah I defiantly see how this could be impacted.
but who knows maybe this will be a domino effect for SOME bsm sports teams. maybe soccer and basketball will consider this in the future. [/code]

That is true they are always trying to be more competitive. If any sport would decide to move it would be basket because they dominate the conference schedule every year. However, the basketball coaches schedule such a difficult non-conference schedule they do not see the need to switch out of conference. Plus there is always one or two teams that seem to put the basketball teams on their heels every year.gray5 wrote:They actually tired to do this about 6 years ago when I went to benilde they were thinking of moving to the Lake Conference however, they felt that it would be too unfair for the other sports besides hockey because all of the teams are in the "Big School" conference.

This idea is great for the hockey teams because the only competition that they get is Totino Grace so I can see them scheduling them next year. I just can't wait to see who the are going to put on their schedule next year.
