All student sections are weak sauce because stupid super intendants athletic directors and parents like most of you are won't let the kids do what they want. Quit being politically correct and having this we don't want to hurt people's feelings stuff that is goin on in today's society.. Chanting mean things, funny things, and clever things is what the kids want to do its fun and I know for a fact a lot of you parents like it when a student section is a little risque hence the liking of section 216 and 206 at the state hockey tourney. This cheering breeds rivalries and a interest in the games for kids so the student sections will get way bigger. To answer the question why student sections are getting smaller are because what's fun about just watching the game? It's fun to a point but it would be way more fun to be able to chant against the other team without getting yelled at and having the parents take it the wrong way and blow it up to something dumb.. We're kids we do dumb things we don't look to much into it and neither does the other team it is just having fun trying to out due the others.. So in conclusion just let um cheer

You are exactly right, last night in hermantown the attendant or whatever her position was kicked a hibbing kid out of the building for starting a chant after getting told we were given a warning. Last year in Virginia, a parent or fan from Virginia took a picture of the hibbing students waving goodbye to Virginias and sent it to the hibbing principle and everyone got yelled at. The days of the funny chants are over. All you can do now is old and original chants that are stupid. Kids don't even go games anymore cause its not worth getting yelled at te next day. A student was even threatened to be arrested for disorderly conduct if the chants get bad
I totally agree with the two responses above.
Ads need to be more lineanant with chants and chirps. Sure they should yell at the students if the other team is absolutley getting manhandled and kids are really abusing them but if the teams are in a fun close game, WHATS THE BIG DEAL.
Its not like the old in days where kids actually fight in the parking lot after games.

A few years back, that Hibbing students section was about as good of a students section as a school of that size could put together, better than some bigger schools, especially come playoff time. Even when Hibbing was in their 6 year curse at the DECC, the blue and white flooded Grand Rapids at the semis as well as the DECC for finals. They had original chants and were always loud and energetic with a few stand outs always leading the section. The roller coaster became popular with them and it really is a shame to see teachers and super intendants take over and kill the energy that smaller schools student sections like this one had.

If you want to see good student sections, go to a East vs. Cloquet game at the lumberdome every year. Chants going back and forth non stop. Cloquet had a couple good ones this year like "kyle rau, kyle rau" while east had classic "we got money" (while throwing money in the air) and "sugar daddys!" which is a strip club in cloquet. and the Indian call because of the rez in Cloquet (which got some students kicked out)
all I know is if east makes it to the X, they have a very organized cheering section and will be on their best game like last year
