You're right, my mistake. I should have said I feel no sympathy for the 1AA representative in general over the last few years.MHGr8ness wrote:They weren't in it the last couple of years.Roseauverrated wrote:Lakeville South should just be happy they're in the tournament. There are plenty of teams not in the tournament that would smoke them. Yeah they've had a tough draw the last couple years but I feel no sympathy for them.
No, because in explaining this years seeding, if they went by game time, the only two teams left when East picked would have been LS and HM (I forget) therefore 50%.MHGr8ness wrote:Doesn't matter. It would still be 25%, because the two teams that drew first each still could have gotten South.EHSHack wrote: If East drew according to game time, there would have been a 50% chance of East drawing Lakeville South.
Go Hounds.

It's still 25%, regardless of if it's done by game time.
The first game, LS would have a 75% of NOT being selected. If not selected, the 2nd game, LS would at that point have a 66.7% chance of NOT being selected. .75 x .667 still results in .50, or more simply realized, 2 out of 4 teams are selected, so they'd have a 50% chance of being in the upper bracked as well as a 50% chance of NOT being in the upper bracket. At that point, there's a 50% chance of NOT being selected in the 6PM game for LS. You still have to take into that account the 50% chance of not being selected, so .5 x .5 is 25%.
I'm actually now going to stop caring. I'm guessing that MSHSL listened to what most people were saying and that 1 should draw 8. After Edina lost to Grand Rapids in '07 & Moorhead in '09 when they were definitely NOT the "8th" seed, they probably said just seed it 1 through 8. I'm now cool with it, and actually excited for the late game on Thursday night & all the speed that will be on that ice along with what should be a fantastic Friday night if the first three Thursday games go chalk.

The one thing that I question is that if they were seeding 1-8, Hill Murray would certainly have been seeded higher than Moorhead by virtue of a similar record and a 6-1 win over the Spuds at the end of the year. It seems like they are matching up 1 vs. 8 and 4 vs. 5, but switching the 6th and 7th seeds to maintain the appearance of a random draw. Last year it was the same, with second seed Edina getting Blaine, who would have been six, and East getting White Bear, the obvious 7th. No. 4 Eagan got Moorhead, the highest ranked of the unseeded teams.
But I think we all agree. End the duplicity and admit what you're doing. I liked it a lot better when the sections were rotated and you knew in November what section champ your section was facing even though the current format makes the path for the higher seeds easier. Then again, if that was the key, they should go further and start the seeding the top sixty four so that we don't lose top teams to better teams in sectional play. I admit that would never work, however.

Re: aa
MG would rather play H-M than Moorhead?rudy wrote:Guess: 1st 4 get seeded and No. 1 picks who it wants, etc etc. That leaves edina with bsm cuz bsm is looking dangerous right now. That can also explain why spuds and hm landed where they did.

Fair enough. Just didn't think that Spuds were any more dominant over Brainerd, and H-M did beat them 6-1 end of season, right?DubCHAGuy wrote:And Moorhead has a goalie that can steal any gamerudy wrote:Hm barely beat roseville.

Channel 45 blew the wrestling finals tonight, it rarely worked. I hope they get it fixed before the hockey tournament as this was an embarrassment for the MSHSL and Channel 45.East Side Pioneer Guy wrote:I just wish channel 45 would put the drawing on it's website. Or MSHSL could put it on You Tube.
Then the conspiracy theories would mostly end.

Roseauverrated- Why do you always feel its necessary for you to bash 1AA? Yeah everyone understands that this section has been weak the past couple years. But, it's not the kids fault there section is bad. Are they just supposed to give up and just tell another section they can go to the tournament? There trying there best and there nothing they can do about it.
