To be honest I am more interested in East against Lakeville South.
5 - 1 East in the warm up game.

loving the little respect South is getting, sets them up for a big upset. They have played the top teams in the state tough all year so I woukdnt be surprised if this was a close game at all.. I'll go 4-3 South

I think DE wins this but give LS some credit, they do have the State scoring leader in Kloos and an overall decent team. I think South will give them a game for awhile but in the end I like East to win 5 - 2 or 6 - 3

East has to tighten up the D in this one. If they can do that, they'll be fine. If not, we might have a track meet on our hands, in which case they could easily lose.

No prediction.

I'll have more profound thoughts on this one as we get closer to the game, but I'm on a roll with these pictures right now, so I might as well give this game one, too.

Does anybody know if this game is going to be streamed on-line, and if so, where?

A few yeas back I think it was DE vs CDH and Edina vs BSM on Thursday. Giles and Randolph were drooling over their Friday's match. They played Friday in a consolation game.

It was Edina vs. Moorhead, but yes, that did happen. The Cretin loss was possibly the most aggravating East game I've ever seen. They'd do well to remember that one--even though they absolutely dominated play, it all went wrong. Can't take anything for granted in a game like this.

LS has ZERO chance
Just like USA vs. USSR in 1980? I agree their odds aren't good, but with the highest scoring player in the state, I would give them something higher than a "ZERO" chance. DE goalie could have a bad game, LS goalie could stand on his head, Randolph, Toninato and Olson could have a bad game or get the flu. Again, DE is the favorite, but to say LS has ZERO chance seems aggressively offensive to LS. With that said, would you be willing to bet your entire net worth on the outcome? Didn't think so. IMHO
Yes I would

I think it was 3 or 4 goals on 9 shots. That was East's best D core I have seen (granted only around 6-7 years worth) with Arbour, Williams, McLean, Forbort and Welinski (IIRC he was playing Varha that year) and they dominated CDH. Nerves just got the best of the goalie.

East's MO has been dominate a period or 2 usually outshooting opponents badly. Their prob has been being to pretty with the passing and when a team clogs the middle, they can still be dominant but only up a couple. The second issue is when they are dominant they can glide along and be a little overconfident and lose focus. That is where the scare will be. If they stay on top of their game at full speed it will be hard for Lakeville to be in it.

If LS can be good in the passing lanes they can stick around, but either way East should win. If Lakeville is sloppy it will get ugly. That said, we all know anything can happen.

Yeah, Welinski was on the first PP unit and saw some scattered ice time beyond that, too. Certainly East's best defensive corps since 1998 or so, but just about everything that could have gone wrong did; the goalie had a rough game, the defense got burned a couple of times, the forwards didn't backcheck much, and that team's real weakness--a lack of scoring depth beyond Max Tardy--made a comeback difficult. I've watched the DVD of that one since and am still amazed at how lopsided it was.

Lakeville South keeps the game close for a while, but East pulls away in the third. DE 5-3

DE will end up winning this one in the end. But i think it will be closer than a lot of people are thinking. About a month ago DE played Lakeville North and North actually ended up playing them tight. If south can learn from what North did this game will end up close. If not it could get ugly. With that being said though DE ends up winning 5-3 on an empty netter.

How is Dec 13th even close to a month ago lol North was outshot 31-13 and thats without Trevor Olson. Logic is flawed.

East comes out and puts the 'Rau' to Kloos, this time it works. DE 5 -LS(Kloos)2.

I've seen East play a few times and the speed is incredible. South will blink and they'll be down by 3 goals.

East: 6
South: 1

East will pull the foot off the gas and rest up for the next game.

Obviously with no head to head games its tough to compare the two teams besides how they did against similar competition..

WBL- DE 6-3 win, LS 7-1 win

Lakeville N- DE 4-1 win, LS 4-3 loss, 4-2 win, 7-1 win

Burnsville- DE 4-2 win, LS 6-3 win, 4-3 win

EP- DE 4-2 win, LS 5-3 loss

AV- DE 6-2 win, LS 3-2 win, 3-0 win

DE obviously has the advantage but I don't think there is quite the gap between the 2 teams as everyone is assuming. I don't expect LS to win but if they keep it close and get a couple breaks you never know

LS isn't a great team, but there are pesky and one of those teams that just seems to always hang in there against teams better than them and if DE doesn't put them away early I could see this game being closer than most think. Not to mention the LS 1st line with Kloos and Harvey can score on anyone and this is a big reason LS is always dangerous and in my opinion has a chance of upsetting anyone. I do think DE will win this game, but they need to put them away early and just bury any chance LS has. Again, they are good enough to hang in there with anyone and the scoring ability of Kloos makes them very dangerous.

I don't think speed is where Duluth East's advantage is in this game. The clear and overwhelming advantage is in depth. If they try to run and gun with South anything could happen. Especially since Kloos will inevitably end up with room to move and make plays which is the last thing East wants. But if they turn it into a possession style game it will limit the potent odd-man rush capabilities of South, and they can neutralize Kloos's biggest weapon (his speed) as much as is possible.

With this game being on TV, and thus the extra time outs for commercials, Kloos' line will be on the ice a ton. LS will play to win this game, while DE will play to win the tournament. Since its the first game, Kloos wont be tired. Thus the high score and a LS victory.

Like I predicted earlier.

LS 6
DE 5
