The thing with Kloos is even if you put a man on him he makes plays, he is probably the best passer in the state. North really kept in bottled up most of the night, he gt away a couple of times early but was stopped and don't remember him getting free after the first 5-10 minutes of the game. What he did do was make some of the prettiest passes to open guys to get goals.
What's really intriguing about this entire field is really only Edina had anywhere near a tough road, BSM had Minnetonka and South had their rival but beyond that the sections were fairly easy for all teams. Everyone but Edina and BSM have to play a significantly tougher team Thursday than did at any time during their sections. For some this is a big step up, including both of these teams.
I like South 5-3.

Bet the house, no, not a chance.
I just like South in this game. East is good but nothing they have done this year is any really any more impressive than anything South has done. Look at common oppents and there isn't a big difference. East's last game against a top 10 team was a 9-3 loss on January 21, it is just one game and a game against a team they had beaten earlier but since that game East's schedule isn't really that good, some rivalry games in there but not really against top teams. In that same time South played Hill-Murray, Eagan, and Burnsville.

You can't really mean this. South's two most impressive wins are the two Burnsville games; they were close in most games but weren't able to beat any of the other top teams they played (Edina, Eagan twice, Hill, Eden Prairie, and Breck). East, on the other hand, has beaten Wayzata, Maple Grove, Eden Prairie, Blaine, Minnetonka, and Andover, and perhaps most importantly, has lost only one game all year. I'd like to see South do well and think they might be a bit underrated, but I don't really see how you can compare their season to East's.

So you're really going to go with Blaine is impressive? Andover? Elk River? None of which are in the Eagan, Burnsville, or Edina caliber of teams.
East did beat Minnetonka but also had running time put on them by Minnetonka. Minnetonka didn't get out of their section though and their game against BSM was pretty one sided. I missed the Maple Grove win by East and yes, that is impressive.
East had very similar scores against Lakeville North, Apple Valley, Eden Prairie, and Burnsville. South whitewashed WBL while East struggled with the Bears, East beat Wayzata while South lost to the Trojans.
These are just two very similar teams, in terms of how they've played. That's not usually the case with teams out of 1AA.

South didn't play Wayzata. I listed Blaine and Andover because they were in section finals and ranked in the top 20 all year. I never mentioned Elk River. And even though Burnsville did have some good wins, I think their overall season shows they weren't really in the same class as Edina and Eagan.
Again, I think South is not getting the respect it deserves. And East is not unbeatable. But looking at their respective seasons, I think it's pretty hard not to conclude that East has a significantly more impressive resume. Particularly since they dealt with some injuries (Olson, Repensky) and South has been healthy all year.

I would tend to agree. If South wins it would be considered a upset and I would be surprised...but not shocked...just surprised.xy wrote:

East is deeper.

Well we're thru 2 now and that great talent isn't exactly showing itself all that well. LS is playing great up to this point, if they get the next one I think they'll pull off the upset.WB6162 wrote:I have a feeling they will impress you tonight at some point.
