What Associations do the Private School Kids come from?

Add in at least eight more talented players that switched to other public programs like Blaine, Centennial, etc... And a Goalie that went to the NTDP.

They would of had a powerhouse team if the high school program merge would have went through like the parents wanted.

A couple more to add to the list:
Jesse Norling Jr Blaine
Then the back up goalie for Hill Murray. He moved from Florida and played 2 years of bantams in Cambridge before transfering.
Also, someone told me an Olson from Cambridge played for Totino Grace. So I'm assuming Matt Olson, sophomore.
There is also one that went to Grand Rapids and a goalie that went to Centennial, I'm not sure on their status. If those kids would have stayed the Miska's from North Branch would have most likely came over to Cambridge, so you add an outstanding goalie and a 2nd liner for Centennial.....
Coulda been a great, but its hard to tell if they would have developed as much staying in the Cambridge program. If you brought back all the players for next year though (hypothetical) would be the first time in history Cambridge would make some noise. Weird how all of a sudden there were so many transfers, when before that, the only other transfer I can think of was to Princeton 10 years ago. After tomorrow though 3 current high schoolers from Cambridge, that are all juniors, will have played in the AA tourney. Congrats to them.

One more player to add. Jalen Shultz played for Cambridge all throughout youth hockey, played 2 years at Totino, then this year is playing midgets for some team in the midwest. would be another junior.

Just to make sure everyone is clear.... youth hockey players have no choice where they play. Even if they attend private school, they are forced to merge into the local city youth program by Minnesota Hockey. The first choice they have to play with their friends is at the High School level. The traitor....left their friends comments get really old.

Where have you been the last few years? Minnesota Hockey, two years ago, changed their player eligibility policy. A player must play where they live, or where they go to school. An association cannot withhold a waiver to a player wanting to play for a different association that has their school of attendance located in that different association's boundaries.

Benilde kids can play at Saint Louis Park. Breck kids can play for Hopkins. Blake or Minnehaha kids can play for Minneapolis. St. Thomas kids can play for Sibley....etc. etc.

I'm guessing we'll hear that is still to strict ... people want the right to go anywhere they want, jump from association to association unfettered without concerning themselves with the issues that brings. and no i'm not going to go into the issues that brings ... they are on many other posts on this board.

Bone, not sure where your getting your information from, but it's not accurate.

Charlie Sampair played for Maht until his bantam years, when he swithced to WBL to play for Hambly. Conrad has always been in the WBL association. Zarembinski grew up playing in the WBL association. And Travis Neubeck started out playing in WBL until his dad got a teaching job down in Shakopee. He started out at AHA until his dad took a job in Maht. Now he plays for HM. (Note: Patrick Munson and Travis where the WBL goalies in squirts before Travis moved to Shakopee. Munson went to HM his 9th grade year and has since transferred to Cent, and now Travis took over the back up for him at HM.)

Most left after playing A Bantam in 8th grade. It took them a while to gel, but by the end of the season they were beating the District 10 leaders. It was very impressive for such a young team.

Heinrich? and Norling went on to be the only rostered 9th graders for HM and Blaine.

Maybe they went to a private middle school with their friends, but never got to play together because they lived in different towns, then they get high school and finally get to play together. Still a traitor?

Or maybe -just maybe- the parents moved or broke out the checkbook, in order to put their kids in a better school, with better opportunities in both academics and athletics.

I know...It's a stretch...Parents wanting the best they can get for their kids and all that....Who would've imagined?

Yep. Left their teammates.

That is incredibly narrow minded. These kids have more than one group of people in their lives. Maybe they've always to play on the same team as the kids they've gone to the same private school with since they were eight years but because they lived in different towns they didn't have that opportunity. They were forced into associations they knew they would eventually have to leave.

If you want to label them a "traitor", you should blame the way the system works instead of the individual. If someone leaves for Ann Harbor do you call them a traitor? I only ask because every time there is a thread about someone going there I only read comments wishing that player the best and saying he deserves it, but I've never seen them be labeled a traitor for leaving his teammates.

In the case of Breck looking at their youth association can be pretty pointless. Same deal for Blake. Those schools are Pre-K through 12 and many of the kids on the roster have been at the school since they were in grade school. And the kids who go to school there are pulled from all over the Metro. There are grade school kids in our neighborhood who go there. We live in Edina. They have classmates from Minneapolis, Minnetonka, EP, Wayzata, etc. So looking at a roster of associations for these kids can be meaningless in terms of knowning whether they went to Breck or Blake only for hockey. I know Opperman and Andrle were at Breck pretty much from the time they started going to school. They are probably Breck's two best players this year. Breck was just fortunate they were enrolled as little kids. I think Rudnick and Iverson arrived when they started Jr. High. And Iverson obviously brought his little brother with him.
