I think spring sports are great for hockey players.. Never said you need to be a one sport athlete. Playing football without a doubt hurts your hockey though because when you should be preparing for the season at captains practice, you are out on the football field. and since Wayzata always makes the state tournament in football, the football/hockey players have to miss the first week of tryouts which puts them at a disadvantage right off the bat. Seem pretty clear to me.
Didnt seem to harm Anders Lee or Zack Budish??
Remind me how Budish's senior hockey season went?

I do believe it went well enough to go in the first round of the NHL draft that's good right?

I actually think Football can help players. Gives them a break from the year round grind and demands of hockey. Good change of pace and there are a lot of successful hockey players that also played football in high school.

I live in Wayzata school district and my kids attend school there and its a great school but its really big and you do not get nearly the attention you would get if you go to Benilde. Saying Wayzata is better than Benilde is crazy, I am pretty certain Benilde was number 2 in the state in average ACT scores last year. When my kids get to high school they will attend a private as well just for the fact that you have closer relationships with the teachers and academic counslers and each kid is help to a very high standard. Not only that but the % of kids that get college academic scholarships coming out of privates is very high. It is like anything else you have to spend money to make money, its not paying for college twice its making a great investment.

Yes but I'm sure he would have liked it to have gone much differently

yeah the physical demands of football "give you a break." Really lets you rest up before a long hockey season

If you took BSM's enrollment, then look at that number of kids for the top ACT scores at wayzata, they would be similar i guarantee. Just because you have bottom kids in your school doesn't affect the school's performance?? You do NOT have to spend money to make money in this sense. Wayzata's math team has won state the past 6 seasons. They have a couple science olympiads year in and year out. Class sizes at Wayzata are reasonable usually 25-30 kids in a class. You can easily have a relationship with a teacher because the teachers only have 3 classes per term meaning they have roughly 75 kids at a time. This can easily be done and I know for a fact many kids have extremely close relationships with their teachers at Wayzata.

I really don't see why you would need rest as a 16-18 year old for a 25-30 game season.

you don't need to, but it definitely has a negative impact on your season.

Your right we need to put all student athletes in hyperbaric chambers until hockey season to insure state titles!
