When Lou was called on his pick, he tried to defend it...the teams were tied at the time. Lou ended up just looking foolish.
Had he simply said he would have been very surprised to see South win and thought they had little chance he would have been fine - he's supposed to have opinions, and that would have certainly been a reasonable one. But anybody who's been around hockey as much as he has should know better than to say a team that won 20 games this year and has the best player in the state has "no chance".

I disagree they were much better in 98 when they were 26-and Corbett, that team didn't look off in the playoffs like this team did, this team couldn't finish the season like they should. And it was fun being in the decc in 98 listening to the east student section playing elk river and chanting "the coach beats his wife"
The 98 DE team was great...they beat a very deep Anoka team for the title...and Finnigan was a stud...but in the January game before an overflow crowd at MG...DE moved the puck with such precision...they looked unstopable (at the time). Agree they didn't play to their ability tonight. That's hockey I guess.
Sats 81........ummm Lakeville SOUTH played last night.........and stand by my statement concerning the North/South game. Schoemacher played a great game last night for South!
it was interesting to hear randolph during the intermission interview still smoldering about past players that have left for ntdp & juniors...almost like he was blaming last nights performance on them, or how this group that 'stayed' was going to vindicate randolphs harshness on the issue

Now, now. Just because East keeps ending your favorite team's/goalie's season. Over and over and over again.
I posted about a week ago about the strong field in the state tournament (15 of 16 #1 seeds from sectionals) and posted that Minnetonka was top ranked in the state (from information I had living here in Florida). I was immediately bombarded by East fans with (sometimes rude) replies about DE being #1, not Tonka. Some accused me of being a sore loser about my team losing. (my team was not even mentioned in my post). But since I stood corrected over and over again, I'll now wait for apologies. BTW, in a later reply to my post I even predicted that East would be proving they were #1 on Saturday night. So I was wrong too.

Weber caught far more flak than praise over the year, but putting a kid who only started a dozen games this season in net turned out to be a terrific coaching decision. Pity that mnhockeyhub didn't think Schumacher was one of the three stars of the game...or that the computer-generated sidebar content next to their game story has the other goalie's face pictured.
Looking forward to tonight's semi-final....Kloos vs Besse, future Gopher vs. future Badger.
LOL!!! Well, to be brutally honest and fair, I can remember being very upset myself when I felt the Indians (GR) did not get their deserved credit when the rankings came out, so I can understand the frustration of the East fans when polls had them at #2 for so long. At lest the polls corrected themselves making East #1 on the final rankings.
Congrats to Lakeville South on a well deserved victory as they were the better team last night. One thing that stood out for me last night was how underwhelmed I was with Trevor Olson. While he was given credit for two goals and I'm not trying to take those away from him it just seemed as if he didnt care last night. Where was the effort?
DE fans please quit saying the Hounds lost because they played bad. LS did exactly what they needed to do to win, they took away DE's speed. Randolph got outcoached.

Not an East fan and not a South fan. I will say as a fan of another SSC school that this game was not a huge surprise to me. This is what South does. Kloos gets all the accolades, but they play a solid team game and frustrate their opponents. They hang around in tight games and while they dropped a few they always play loose and as a team. This team seems to have good chemistry and I think they give BSM all they can handle. Congrats to them for a well played game and good luck tonight.
Joe Freemark is very good. For all that had never been able to see him play I hope you understand now why some of us on this forum rave about him. He was the best player on the ice last night. His ability to be a one man breakout reminds me of the days of Jordan Leopold and Keith Ballard for the gophers. If he were just 3 inches taller he wouldn't be able to keep the colleges away.
I completely agree DE played bad and were very unorganized. BUT the reason that was is because LVS played really well new exactly what DE famous zone entry was and interrupted it. LVS Didn't let DE get any sort of flow to their game like they were so good at all year. You take away DE amazing passing and flow with very sound, good game plan, and solid fundamental hockey you win, and thats just what LVS did. Hats off to LVS because I was expecting DE to win it all. My main point is you have to give LVS a ton of credit for their game plan, their game plan made DE very unorganized and they couldn't figure out how to turn it around. IMO

Lets not get too carried away here. While Freemark played a great game last night, comparing him to 2 former All-Americans and longtime NHL d-men is a little much.
