It was 1-0 Edina end of first period. Game started few minutes after 12, so should be 3rd by now.MJA10 wrote:Eagan 4, Maple Grove 1
hockeyhub says East Edina hasn't started yet but that doesn't sound right. Anyone with an update on this one?
update: MSHSL site says 2-2 in 3rd.

I ventured over to Mariucci today. All three of East's periods were better than all of their periods yesterday. They got progressively better as the game went on. There were flashes of East hockey in the first two periods.
I would love to have heard what was said in the locker room between the 2nd and 3rd periods. I'm guessing the East seniors realized that could have been it, and they responded. The 3rd was vintage East hockey. The first line looked like it was on a perpetual power play, the second line was cycling, and the 3rd line was doing well, too. Toninato (on his 18th birthday) would not be denied; he scored twice, including the game-winner.
Not what we wanted, of course, but I was proud of their effort. The game against Eagan tomorrow should be a fun one. I just wish we'd seen that a bit earlier.
Also, the Edina fan turnout was pitiful.

I hate to defend Edina on anything, but maybe the students decided to go to class today and the casual fans decided to go to work...Melvin wrote:I never understood this attitude...It's almost surprising that the school doesn't send the players to detention for the rest of the year, if they don't at least get to the finals.karl(east) wrote:

Yeah....HS kids with half an excuse to blow off class not taking the opportunity?gopherpuck516 wrote:I hate to defend Edina on anything, but maybe the students decided to go to class today and the casual fans decided to go to work...Melvin wrote:I never understood this attitude...It's almost surprising that the school doesn't send the players to detention for the rest of the year, if they don't at least get to the finals.karl(east) wrote:

I saw the difference between the support for Egan and Edina in the 3rd place game last year, played on Saturday, and it was striking.
Edina should change their nick to the Spartans...Win or don't come home.
Little Falls won the concellation championship for A with a 5-4 win over Roch Lourdes. Not bad for a team that had "no right to be in the tourney". LF took a 4-0 lead into the 3rd, before Lourdes scored 3 straight to make it 4-3, Joey Hanowski had a hat trick to push the score to 5-3. Lourdes scored with about :30 left with an extra attacker, but couldn't get another to tie it up. The key for LF may have been killing off an early 5x3 in the first period.
Nice rebound after a shellacking in the opener to STA, beating Marshall and Lourdes at Mariucci.
