Net for hockey goal backstop

Post by keepurheadup »

I need to build a backstop for our hockey goal that's usually in our driveway. My plan involves using either thick PVC or steel pipe as an up side down U shaped frame (attached to our in-ground basketball hoop for support). For those of you that have built something similar, I'm looking for opinions on reasonably priced netting to use for the backstop, anyone have some advice?

A military surplus store usually has cheap netting

I found a heavy duty mesh tarp at Menard's that is protecting my garage door.

I used the 10' high #21 sports netting from this site around the ends of our backyard rink, works great:

What about a shooting tarp instead?
