Schedule for Orange at '02 Level
I guess Bernie must think his '02 Orange team needed some confidence as evidenced by their candy cane schedule at the stars and stripes tourney. What a laugher of a schedule. Oh well it should help for good posts on Monday from the machine heads about how great their '02 team is. They've been a little quiet since Chicago where they barely managed to win a game. Good job Bernard on the scheduling!!!

As a parent on the '02 Machine, I gotta say our schedule this past weekend at Stars and Stripes was a joke. It was obvious the brain trust at MN made headquarters wanted to ensure we made the semis/finals. Our first three games were barely worth a trip the rink. Kids don't develop by beating crappy teams by a bunch of goals. They develop by playing equal or better teams. It is not about trophies at this age, it is about getting better. For as much as Bernie despises the Blades, giving then a tough bracket and us a cake bracket makes little sense. Why would we help them get better?? Seems dumb. My two cents.

Give it up, very few on this "bored" believe you are a Machine parent.Irisheyes02 wrote:As a parent on the '02 Machine, I gotta say our schedule this past weekend at Stars and Stripes was a joke. Whether legit or not, IrishEyes comments are dead on. The difference in skill level of the pools was a joke. The championship game was played Saturday morning when the Jets and Blades played. The Huge Hook wrote:Give it up, very few on this "bored" believe you are a Machine parent.Irisheyes02 wrote:As a parent on the '02 Machine, I gotta say our schedule this past weekend at Stars and Stripes was a joke. Hockeydad is right! Irisheyes is just trying to stir the pot....the Orange have improved over last weekend and the Blades know what their roster will look like...it won't have any hint of Orange to it. People are loyal to their program and you have to respect that. Minnesota has two very strong teams at the 02 level and the Euro team is quite solid as well.HockeyDad41 wrote:yawnIrisheyes02 wrote:Huge Hook, this will all make more sense to you in a couple of weeks. At Minnesota Made yesterday to watch '99 third place game. I watched half of 02' championship game. Darn good game. Machine had multiple opportunities to tie it late in the third. Kids on both teams worked real hard. Top two lines on both teams really strong.
02' Blades coaches at the game. Blades players close to coaches chanting "Let's Go Jets" with Manitoba crowd in third period. Cheering against another Minnesota team facing a team from Canada????
Could be some truth with Machine issues. Good kids getting constantly ridiculed by coach wears on everyone. Win or lose. Even the most loyal Machine families with negative feelings.
Both organizations need to get priorities straight. IMO

Pretty sure you will never see the Blades or the Machine cheering for one another. It would be like the North Stars cheering for Blackhawks back in the day. They are rivals and always will be. Also, after the "random" draw Bernie gave the Blades you can understand why they were cheering for the Jets.youngatheart wrote:At Minnesota Made yesterday to watch '99 third place game. Although if I was a Blades coach my team would have been keeping their mouths shut in the stands.

Just a weird scene. Blades coaches might not have known it even was occurring.
Bottom line. Minnesota teams/families should never cheer against each other against a team from Canada. Some of the boys on alternate teams are good friends! Doesn't really make sense. I can guarantee Canadians wouldn't cheer for Minnesota teams. Guarantee it.
I love it when our boys take on teams from Canada and beat them. It drives the Canadians nuts. If you think Blades and Machine people are arrogant about their hockey. You haven't spent any amount of time in Canada.

I get what your preaching, the day those teams are cheering for one another is the day one of the programs is losing or folding..youngatheart wrote:Just a weird scene. Blades coaches might not have known it even was occurring.

02 Blades families were fine with the brackets. Only comments were regarding lack of parity with the pools -- no whining. Ended up with four games against top notch teams. All competitive games. Blades are interested in getting better, which the team did by playing good teams like the Jr. Jets, Bauer Selects and Euro America.
There couldn't have been that many 02 Blades kids at the Orange game. Most were going to baseball or lacrosse games, family events or just going home after the game against Euro America, so don't make it sound like it was a team function to go cheer against the Machine. Lets not create waves where none are needed. The kids couldn't care less about the Machine/Blades rivalry. Most have played with each other on different teams and chances are most will play with each other again in the future. Now for the parents......

I agree with Parent. I was happy with the tough pool as it gave us a lot of really good games which is what we want. The only downside is that teams aren't seeded correctly after the round robin pool play is completed. The Blades and Selects should have been seeded much higher then they were which makes for better games in the playoff round.parent wrote:02 Blades families were fine with the brackets.
