Team Minnesota Announced today for 2012 Brick Invitational

MSP, i talked with people at the S and S to find out what the word on the Warroad boy was. The bottom line was that they couldn't make the commitment to the Blades that they wanted due to location and work. I think the Dads parents live in Winnipeg and the boy was able to stay with them while playing with the Jets. If a situation doesnt work, why not let the boy play? I was shocked when i heard how the Blades handled the situation and now the boy is not playing in the Brick at all and deserves to be. What are the Blades teaching kids?? winning is everything?? The kids are 10 for crying out loud! too bad that certain coaches are letting their pride and ego get in the way of a 10 year olds once and a life time experience.
Minnesota has so many great hockey players they don't need to treat kids like this AND we don't need IMPORTS! yes, i am bitter!

Napalm, I can remember my first travel tournament (Richfield, over Thanksgiving), first out-of-town tournament (Rochester), and first trip with an invite team (to Winnipeg). I even remember where that last team practiced.
That was over 30 years ago. Oh, and I have quite vivid memories of the billet families that hosted me. Plus I can still remember the names of the three kids from Thunder Bay my family put up when they came to the Twin Cities.
Have modern diets erased the memories of today's youth? These kids really won't remember anything?

Be kind. Rewind.
I did not know that about the Warroad kid. That is terrible. So, the Blades went on the war path about the kid playing for Jr. Jets and he is not allowed to play in the Brick now? He lives under 90 minutes from Winnipeg and more than 6 hours from the cities. If true, that is funked up.
They are bringing out all the heavy artillery for this trip. Imports, small roster, nixing other kids off rosters. Whatever happened to the European they are bringing for the Brick? Jakub? Sliding him in at the last minute, so the cognoscenti on the forum don't notice? He was on the NAHC roster for less than 24 hours, and I have heard from multiple inside people that he is playing for them.
O-Town, it's a great tournament...but I strongly disagree that the two tourneys that kids look forward to are the Brick and the U-20 Championships. Seems a little disproportionate. Do some Brick kids make the NHL? Sure! What % of NHL players played in the Brick? Less than 5%? 2%? Less than 1? Point being...if it was so elite...why don't more of the kids turn up in the NHL?

Because "elite" 10 year olds don't necessarily turn into "elite" NHL players. Thanks for that.Napalm187 wrote:I did not know that about the Warroad kid. That is terrible. Bringing 3 goalies? I bet #3 will cherish those memories. Do they take turns opening the door?goaliewithfoggedglasses wrote:From what I have heard he isn't their best goalie. If the Blades did in fact get the northern boy off the Jets roster they should be ashamed. Aren't they having a European skate for them??
I think that the organization and coaching staff need to get things in perspective.
Dornbach please don't compare the Brick to the U-20 championship. Once again, get things in perspective.
To me this makes the Blades look like the biggest bunch of Hypocrites. Maybe I'm wrong.
I hope someone lets the Blades coaching staff know about these latest posts. We know that none of them follow this forum...........

This is nothing new, Blades have been not allowing Minnesota kids to play on other Brick teams for years now. I think it is just their policy and nothing personal.

It is literally and figuratively not currently Sunny in Philadelphia. One because it is raining. Two because my kid was unceremoniously dropped from the roster when the brain trust trimmed to 13. Am I bitter? A little. Do I look like a jack nut for my smack talk? A little. Will i get ripped by the Oraneteers? Of course. What makes it worse is the fact that the original coach of '02's who Bernie replaced is once agdin in charge of the lines. I'm sure it will be like last year when the goal was to get his kid the puck. Good times on the horizon. Would like to see us play the Brick team in Winnipeg but that won't happen because neither team will get to the semis. I bid you a find farewell.

Solving all of hockey's problems since Feb 2009.
Rosters trimmed late, crushing the spirits of a Machine dad. Inside sources saying a kid from Europe is playing for Team Minnesota. Evil Blades organization ruining the dreams of a 10 year old to play in a tournament that some say is the greatest tournament ever, while others say it is overblown. This stuff is too good.
I would anticipate the TLC channel starting a new reality based show -- Hockey Parents of Minnesota. Should rival Dance Moms for viewership.

Wrong again whacko. Bernie and Bernie alone runs the lines. You merely made an incorrect assumption when you attended the Machine v. Jr. Jets S&S Championship game.Irisheyes02 wrote:What makes it worse is the fact that the original coach of '02's who Bernie replaced is once again in charge of the lines.
Have fun in Edmonton.

Yes this is on the Brick only, but what do YOU think of the rest of the system? Like the 2003 and 2002. You seem to have some good info. Just wondering.youngatheart wrote:This is a 2012 Brick forum. Not commenting on every Blades team and coaching staff.
I thought it was wrong to prevent a kid that lives 10 miles from Canada from playing on a Brick team while rostering kids from all over to play on your Brick team. IMO.
Irish...Now it is just plain getting sad...
