Saw East once - would think definately worthy of a top ten spot and likely pretty high up there.

My guess if you asked any of the coaches of this team their response would be..."Who cares!"

Not the point whether a coach cares or not. Many do many don't. Just trying to help out the integrity of the rankins for those that do. Thx.

I don't know if the Duluth bantam team is ranked correctly or not but whoever is ranking the peewees is sure missing the boat by not having the Duluth peewees in the top 3! That team is BIG & Skilled...rare combination at the peewee level. My prediction is they are your state peewee champs this year. Yes, I know its early but remember you heard it here first!

Pee Wee AA rankings

Post by redtundra »

I have no doubt Duluth East is very good. Sounds like they have an exceptional team from the few posts I've seen. But to predict them as State Champs is a bit bold... That Edina team, from what I've seen, is head and shoulders above everyone - maybe one of the best pee wee teams I've ever seen. IMHO.

Not only is the Edina team full of talent, but they play better as a team than last year's edition. Also, both their goalies are returnees, and are a year better. On top of that, if there is an injury then they can call up a player from the A team who would be a star on most team's AA squad.

Haven't seen Lakeville South yet. How good are they?

Have not seen either team but South good enough to hang w/in 1 of the "almighty" per score last week. I'm sure the shots were like 50-10 though right.

There are a few teams that have a shot at the miracle - south and east both canidates.

I think the South game was an example of kids being kids... Lakeville South is very good and certainly a top 5 team in the State. Obviously, every team will have an off day. But the games so far - with the exception of the South game - have all been blowouts. Some against very good teams (top 5 teams). Will Edina win every game this year? Probably not. And if they lose at the wrong time, they may be done. But they are VERY good and will be tough for anyone to beat on any given day. Looks like Wayzata, Lakeville South, Duluth East and Tonka may have the best shot - at least early in the season. I think OMG will be much improved as the season moves along and that 1st game the two teams played will not be indicative of what will happen later on. They play each other in pool play in the EP tournament - should be interesting to see where those teams are at after a month or so of playing. BTW - the East/West side looks quite a bit tougher than the North/South side in the EP tournament - particularly that West bracket (Bracket of Death...)

How do you explain the drubbing then of Edina beating Tonka 11-0 and Tonka playing to a tie against Jefferson 3-3? I guess kids being in 6 and 7 grade??

Tonka is a VERY odd team. They have a lot of talent on that team. Two years ago that squirt team was probably 2nd best in the state. And they added some very good pieces this year. They just don't seem to be playing very well right now. They most likely would not be a "top 5" team right now. But at the end of the year they should be a factor.

I agree with you one hundred percent, they have added key players from two different school districts and I think people had high hopes for them but it is early and better to play better later in the season than at the beginning if you have to chose

Thanks for putting these rankings together. Just a couple of FYIs.

Minneapolis is called Minneapolis. Not MSP, not Minneapolis-Park, but just Minneapolis.

Their top PeeWee and Bantam teams are A not AA.
