The kids are not there for the hockey, it's all about the education.

All students and usually one sometimes both parents have moved here as well.
It is a great education. My boys were 40 deep in the back row, texting Mary Jane Rotten #^otch and not even listening to the teacher tell them what Martin Luther King's second cousin's favorite color was.... 4:1 teacher ratio and grades good enough to be able to play. Best experience my boys have ever had in school!
On the recruiting issue, just come and watch us. You will see that none of these boys would have been recruited. I am guessing they came to this school because they had not been recruited. No super stars here, just kids that want to get better at both school and hockey. It's working in our house and my boys love it!! Shame on them!

My kids don't go to school saying "boy we are going to get a great education today". They are like Sh1t we have school today. If this thing motivates kids to WANT to go to school then what more could you want. My opinion. As far as Mary Jane, we didn't text her we did something else.

I have no issues with the fact that you want to send your kids to this school thats your choice and great for you if you want to waste the money every year for them to play hockey for class. I can find better things to spend my money on and if I didn't think my kids were getting a good education at a public school and they wanted to do an online charter school then I would take care of that and not pay that much to do it.

On the recruiting issue I am sure at least 90% of the kids from out state were recruited you can deny it all you want. Its not like this is Shattuck or a well known boarding school on the east coast. This is a new school hardly anyone outside of the twin cities knows about. So they need to go and find kids to attend this school to keep it going. I guess if all schools in the state could recruit we will expand within a couple years and every school could have a chance to become the next great school for hockey. However that is not how the high school league is supposed to work. But its great that the parents of the kids that go to this school are open to admitting they recruit.

So I'm hearing this school could swell to 3oo-400 kids in the next two years. No way Eagan Ice arena can handle that many kids. Woodcroft will have to build his own school. Maybe North/south campus setup ??? It seem that there are happy parents/kids. It will just keep growing. I see Major Midgets AAA/Jr team[he already owns a USHL team] prepschool type gig in the future. They are smart business people !!!

I think what is happening is this school is new and some people aren't comfortable with change. I don't know if they can be successful, time will tell.

For over 40 years I have heard of ski racing high schools and thought they are a similar comparison.

Heck, if they can get and maintain a 300-400 kid enrollment, they should just build their own rink as well. Part of the marketing program has to involve having classes right there at the rink...building a separate school building and shuttling kids from one to the other would work against that edge. And I can't imagine that many kids sharing two shower stalls
Throw in a future MSHSL girls team and they'd also struggle to find home ice times on Eagan's primary sheet.

Always have extra room to add onto the Super Rink, right?

Watched them play my sons team this weekend, not a bad team. Short on numbers (I only counted 14 skaters) but they played well until the game got a little rough (no refs). Our team has a few former AAA Nat's and they said that a lot of the Achiever kids were Nat's players (even the out-of-state kids) so I assume that is why they have moved here.

I think the main issue most will have (esp. if this program gets really good) is the fact that they train for Hockey year round and compete against programs that don't. We will see how it goes...

Most don't remember the days when Shattuck started gearing up it's Hockey program...they were BAD!! It took many years to build that program to what it is today. I see a similar future for this program.

Harvard is obligated to give home school students a chance, they are by no means saying that online classes are better than a prep school education. Furthermore, the online classes on that page can be more directly applied to students who are 4.0 students at their high school and chose to take ADDITIONAL courses that are not offered at their school.
