Posted results so far:

Mounds View 8, Hastings 1
Led by Kathryn Larson’s three goals and two assists, the Mounds View Mustangs had little trouble dispatching the 14th ranked Hastings Raiders. Mounds View also played great defense, limiting Hastings to just 7 shots on goal while amassing 40 of their own.

In our contest I6 of 21 picked up a point apiece, but nobody even came close to getting the score right in this one.

North Wright County 1, Andover 1 (OT Tie)
The River Hawks and Golden Warriors skated to a 1-1 tie in Andover. North Wright County’s Marina Chapman opened the scoring at 11:22 of the 2nd period on the power play, but exactly 3 minutes later Andover’s Mikayla Goodin scored to tie it. The River Hawk’s Alex LaMere stopped 41 of 42 Andover shots on net, while Andover’s Maddie Rooney made 26 saves of her own, including 21 in the 3rd period and the overtime.

As you would expect when two teams tie, most everyone was blanked in terms of points. But there was one – capitalpride – who had the foresight to predict a tie game, thereby gaining a big point on everybody else.

Buffalo 3, Wayzata 2
Buffalo’s Katie Rooney scored two goals in the first two minutes of the game, and Madi Jewell scored what ended up to be the winner at 1:27 of the 2nd. Lindsay Roethke had the first assists on both of Rooney’s 1st period tallies.

There were 8 prognosticators who had Buffalo winning the game, and amazingly 5 of them also got the score right.

In a game I attended this evening, it was:

Benilde-St. Margaret’s 3, Minnetonka 0
On Thursday we should have a new No. 1 team in Class AA. The real star of the game for the Red Knights was their goaltender, Abby Miller. The junior netminder made numerous terrific saves and also did a fine job controlling rebounds to stymie the Skippers and earn the shutout. She ended up with 26 saves.

Scoring for BSM was defender Liv Halverson, from in close on a goal-mouth scramble, and Kelly Pannek who was left all alone out front and buried a hard wrister after receiving a nice feed from Alicia Praus. Caitin Reilly scored BSM’s final goal on an empty-netter with 35 seconds remaining.

In our contest there were 8 who predicted BSM would win, and they each get a point.

No game stats available, but the last of our five games tonight is reported as a final:

Stillwater 3, Cretin-Derham Hall 2

Once again, in our contest we had FIVE who nailed the 3-2 score! Eight others also thought Stillwater would win and earn one point each.

So until Thursday, here's our Leaderboard:

1. capitalpride - 6 (4 of 5 with TWO perfect scores!)

2. backspin - 5
Racki2016 - 5

4. ayhfan - 4

5. woogieboogiewoogie - 3
Knight7 - 3
MNHockeyFan - 3
FASTWHEATIE - 3

As of 10PM three of tonight’s six games are reported as final:

Crookston 5, East Grand Forks 3
East Grand Forks scored the first three goals of the game, but then Crookston’s Brianna Breiland literally took the game into her own hands, scoring the next FIVE, including three unassisted. The Green Wave did outshoot the Pirates 29-20, but they simply could not contain Brianna Breiland in this game.

8 of 21 predicted a Pirates’ victory, and they pick up a point each.

Eagan 3, Burnsville 2
Gopher recruit Megan Wolfe scored two goals to lead the Wildcats past the Blaze. Burnsville tied it up at 1:59 of the 3rd Period on a power play goal by Paige Skaja, but Eagan’s Kelsey Walsh answered by getting the game winner a few minutes later.

In our contest Eagan was favored by a 14-6-1 margin, and there were three who also got the score correct (36Guy, sinbin and MNHockeyFan :) )

Orono 6, Mound-Westonka 3
The Spartans outscored the White Hawks 6-3 in a penalty filled game at Orono Ice Arena. In all 13 minor penalties were called, and the teams combined for five power play goals. Orono’s Rebekah Smith, who scored two goals, was the only player with more than one, and she also added an assist. Orono had a decisive 41-23 edge in shots on goal.

19 of 21 picked Orono to win and add a point each.

Hope to post the other scores and an updated Leaderboard soon!

Two more scores:

Minnetonka 4, Anoka 1
Minnetonka’s Hannah Ehresmann stopped 22 of 23 Anoka shots and defender Sydney Baldwin, who recently committed to play at the U of M, scored two goals to pace the Skippers. Presley Norby and Laura Bowman had a goal and an assist each for Tonka.

Our panel was unanimous in predicting a Minnetonka win, and there were two - D16Dad and fishfreak11 – who got the 4-1 score right which gives them the extra point.

Bloomington Jefferson 3, Lakeville North 2
In what has to be biggest surprise of the night, the Jaguars defeat #7AA Lakeville North at BIG. Gopher recruit Kelsey Cline scored what proved to be the game winner at 16:12 of the 2nd Period on the power play. She also assisted on Jefferson’s second goal which was scored by Alexandra Brolsma. And netminder Bailey Plaman stopped 31 of 33 shots, including 14 in the 3rd period, to preserve the upset win for the Jaguars.

We had just one prognosticator who thought Jefferson would win, and it is Otter who picks up a big point on the rest of the field.

And in our final game of the night, it was:

Warroad 4, Roseau 1
Kayla Gardner, who will be playing hockey at North Dakota next season, had two goals and an assist to lead the Warriors over the Rams. Fellow UND recruit Lisa Marvin added a goal and two assists, and Dayton Hilgert stopped all but one of the 17 shots she faced.

Our panel was unanimous in picking Warroad to win, but the story here is the five wise ones who somehow “knew” the score would be 4-1: Silent But Deadly, ayhfan, FASTWHEATIE, sinbin and last but certainly not least, capitalpride.
So, with four Saturday games still to be counted for the week, here is where we stand:

1. capitalpride - 10

2. ayhfan - 9
Otter - 9

4. backspin - 8
Racki2016 - 8
woogieboogiewoogie - 8
MNHockeyFan - 8
FASTWHEATIE - 8
fishfreak11 - 8
sinbin - 8

11. Silent But Deadly - 7
36Guy - 7
FlyingWarrior - 7
Nordic - 7
starmvp - 7

16. Three tied with 6

19. Two tied with 5

21. One with 4

Saturday scores and contest update:

Hill-Murray 2, Lakeville South 2
The Hill-Murray Pioneers and the Lakeville South Cougars skated to a 2-2 tie at Hasse Arena in Lakeville. Hill-Murray took a 2-0 lead in the 1st period on goals by Becca Zarembinski and Paige Freeberg, but Lakeville South countered with goals by Morgan Morse in the 2nd and Chloe Batta in the 3rd. Shots in this game were dead even at 25 each, with Hill-Murray’s Alexys Woodward and Lakeville South’s Claire Wallenta each making 23 saves.

None of our contestants predicted a tie, so no points were awarded in this one.

Blake 5, Orono 5
In a game featuring lots of offense and lots of shots, Blake and Orono tied 5-5 this afternoon at the Orono Ice Arena. Gopher recruit Dani Cameranesi had the hat trick for Blake, while Orono’s Emily Knight scored two goals and added an assist. Blake had a 46-34 edge in shots on goal.

Well, wouldn’t you know it, another tie and again zero points for everybody! Good for the leaders, I suppose, but not so good for those of us who were hoping to catch up. (:

Roseville 4, Stillwater 1
Roseville upended Stillwater by a 4-1 score in an important Suburban East Conference matchup at the St. Croix Rec Center. Kate Flug, who will be wearing the Maroon & Gold for Minnesota next fall, scored two goals and an assist to lead the Raiders. Brittany Boss stopped 15 of 16 Ponies shots for the win.

18 of 21 had Roseville winning, and there were three correct scores, by Silent But Deadly, 36Guy and fishfreak11.

Our final Leaderboard will be posted once the result of the Red Wing/Breck game is confirmed.

Final score:

Red Wing 4, Breck 1

Led by Nicole Schammel’s two goals and an assist, Red Wing defeated Breck 4-1 at Breck’s Anderson Ice Arena in Golden Valley. The last two goals for Red Wing came late in the game on empty netters. The Wingers’ Ashley Corcoran stopped all but one of the Mustangs’ 34 shots to get the win.

14 of 21 had Red Wing coming out on top in this one, and get a point each. There were no correct scores.

This puts a wrap on Week 6. In a close battle, capitalpride would have won "all alone" in 1st place, but missed this last game, which gave Otter the chance to tie! Here are the final point totals:

1. capitalpride - 11
Otter - 11

3. Silent But Deadly - 10
36Guy - 10
backspin - 10
ayhfan - 10
FASTWHEATIE - 10
fishfreak11 - 10
sinbin - 10

10. Racki2016 - 9
woogieboogiewoogie - 9
FlyingWarrior - 9
MNHockeyFan - 9
Nordic - 9

15. D16Dad - 8
Bighead - 8
starmvp - 8

18. Two tied with 7

20. One with 6

21. One with 5
