Eagan 6
Hermantown 5

Final

Nor fun spotting a good team 5 goals, but these guys are never out of any game. So fun to watch this team. They never quit - even after giving up 4 power play goals to dig a 5-0 hole.

Eagan 6 Hermantown 5 OT Shootout win ...think these officially go down as ties for what its worth

I noticed after the game on hockeyhub someone was whining about refs! Eagan was 0-1 on the pp in the first period, Hermantown 1-1 before the 5min major was called and the game was 2-0. Hermantown scored twice on the 5 min major to go up 4-0. Not sure how Eagan had to fight off the refs?  Anyway, great game and comeback for Eagan.

I think they scored 3 on the 5 min major. 2 right away and then again at the start of the second period. 4 PP goals total.

Hawks had a nice power play

When a team is called for too many men on the ice early in the game and gives up a goal during the PP, it's not that unusual for that team's fans to be counting helmets and looking for consistency during the rest of the game. I'm not saying that the original call was bad...but there were two occasions later in the game when the Hawks appeared to have too many on the ice themselves (at least it looked that way from the stands). I also think that the "whining" was done in real time via smart phone, rather than after the fact.

Great comeback for Eagan, but Hermantown showed just as much resilience after game was tied early in the third. They had more scoring chances from that point on, and had Cats on their heels last 2 min of regulation.

Anybody that thinks that Hermantown is only the 12th best single A team in the state is either crazy...or crazy partisan. They can play.

Bad calls by refs, unable to score on there own power play chances and another major penalty that leads to multiple PP goals by an opponent. Sounds like a typical Eagan game.

Just so the Eagan fans are aware since you won in a shootout the game was a tie that is what it is for the record.[/quote]

A nice come from behind wi - I mean TIE. Good Eagan was able to fight back after being down 5 rip but still just a tie against what is a pretty good single A team. Eagan should hold there ranking at 6 or 7 but that's about it. Look forward to Karl's rankings with all the happenings this week.

Its treated as a tie in the standings but on the ice it was a sweet sweet win in a battle of heavyweights between class A #2 and class AA #4. You can try and rain on the parade ( haters gotta hate) but last nights WIN provides a pretty big umbrella!

The game ended in a TIE. Eagan did not win the game it was a TIE
The shoot out served the purpose of deciding who wins the tourney and gets the trophy. Eagan did that. It was an exciting game and Eagan was lucky to come out of it with a tie. There is no hating going on here watcher was just stating the fact that the game ended in a tie and is officially recorded as a tie.

Those rankings aren't worth the megabits they are displayed on.

#4AA v #2A where it counts

Mnhockeyrankings.com

Hawker also scores it #4 v #2.

Lee has it #4 v #3

Even Karch shows #4 v #4

That is the reason Hermantown did not accept an invite to play in Schwans

Which reason is that? JV teams play in Schwans as well.

Ok so here is how I see the Eagan/Hermantown game. Eagan came out flat, this seems to be a normal thing for this team, Hermantown with a chip on there shoulder to knock off a top ten AA team comes out flying and take the lead 2-0 early. Eagan takes a major penalty, this also seems to be a normal thing for this team, and Hermantown uses their early momentum to score a couple goals leaving Eagan down 4-0 after one. Early second with 3 1/2 minutes remaining on the major, Hermantown nets another one to go up 5-0, seemingly putting the game already out of reach as I think most teams would have folded at that point. Blaine would be an example of that in last years sections playoff beating. Eagan kills off the rest of the major and then gets to work, stepping up and playing like they should have from the start and it finally pays off when they net 4 goals in the final 6 minutes of the second period. 3rd period starts with Eagan having all the momentum and they score another goal to tie the game, Hermantown has a flurry of shots at the end of the 3rd as they try to get back the game that should have been theirs but they cant put another one past Lindgren who ends up saving 44 of 49 shots thrown at him. OT was back and forth with chances for both teams to win and then in the shootout Eagan clearly shows they are superior to Hermantown in skill players. I predicted a 5-2 Eagan win and thats what it should have been if it hadnt been for the major penalty called. Eagan has to clean up their game a bit, too many majors will cost them eventually. They also need to start coming out in the first period ready to play. I do think they showed alot of heart coming backt the way they did because if you were at the game you would know just how negative things were feeling when they came out of that major down 5-0 against a team that was playing very well, it felt insurmountable at that point. After the results of this weekends games across the board I am convinced that this Eagan team can compete with any team out there and should be considered a legitimate State title contender along with the other big dogs out there. There is plenty of time for them to clean a few things up and come playoff/tourney time this team could be a very tough beat.
