Moorhead '05

Post by Nostalgic Nerd »

Does anyone else think this was one of the great missed opportunities in hockey history? They put roughly 110 shots on goal in the quarters and semis to Rochester Century and Duluth East. Then they out shot AHA 40-18. They had a goal disallowed, and despite that Trebil really out-coached Moorhead. It wasn't the amount of shots they put on but the quality of them and getting a few costly odd-man rushes. Moorhead's goaltending couldn't buy that save they needed. I thought more than anything it came down to AHA having the snipers and Moorhead not. I believe the Spuds had 150+ SOG for the tournament. Kind of a waste on the one had, and yet a power like the Spuds giving up 5-6 goals on a championship--they didn't deserve to win.

Zactly what I thought !

If the 1949 Brooklyn Dodgers coulda hit a home run in game 3 of the World Series, the woulda won it.

There are thousands of "missed opportunities" out there - teams that never got thru sections.

If only Bill Buckner could could get a "do over" in the 86 Word Series the experts would quit comparing his snaffu to the 05 spuds snaffu. #-o
